Post Office said it didn’t matter if it had been cashed. My receipt was all I needed,Unless in all that time somebody else cashes it.

That is very odd, I have cashed USPS MO at banks I bank with and had no problems. ask to talk to a branch manager, the USPS MO have watermarks and a security strip. which can easily been seen.
if they can not tell if they are fake or real, at the time you present them to be cashed, time to find another bank.

Anytime somebody sends me a check i pretty much dont get that money for a month or more and its a huge hassle for me to send one.
I need to check on that mobile deposit jazz. I use 3 banks and cu and im sure one of them have itI can relate to the check-writing hassle. For a few years now I've used a free service offered by my credit union to pay bills (ACH if I have an account number to send payments to) or have checks sent as necessary. Haven't written a paper check in three years.
Only problem has been recipient once tossed envelope w/check inside into trash 'cause the return address wasn't familiar.
Checks I infrequently receive I deposit by use of an app the CU makes available. I see the amount credited to my account within 48 hours, usually less if I 'deposit' check on a weekday. This has taken the 'hassle' out of physically having to get to their building to submit paper checks for deposit, a big plus.
In this day and age I can't imagine why a valid check submitted for deposit doesn't get credited to your account within three business days.

Try calling your postmaster tell them you are bringing in $1k in usps MO to be cashed and would like them to have the cash on hand.
Good luck getting the Post Master or any other Fed to treat that case appropriately. They'll add it to the stack and say "don't hold your breath."I use USPS MO for the simple fact that if fraud has been committed then the Feds are involved because the funds that were used is a Federal form of payment. Makes me feel better.
This is what I've done too. My tiny local post office, whose general employees all arrive on the shortest liitle yellow bus you ever did see, cannot figure out how to produce greenbacks from one of their own cash proxies.
If I call in advance, when the postmaster's on duty, and use small words I can arrange it so I can can exchange their vouchers. It's a PITA but beats doing anthing at all with Wells Fargo or those other national corporate thieves.
I currently have over $1000 in USPS money orders in my wallet.
I went to the local USPS branch again yesterday and asked to cash them. The lady said maybe she had enough cash to cash the smallest one ($60) but she didn't. I asked when to come back when they would have cash and she didn't know. Suggested my bank.
My bank won't cash them. they say there are too many fakes out there. They will deposit them but hold the funds 14 days. This pretty much eliminates what most people are trying to accomplish of a cash transaction.
My bank will cash checks and hand me the money.
Anyone else have trouble cashing these?
