No more USPS MOs

Wayne,
Larger amounts of $ in the drawers went out with each teller having a 1917 S&W or Colt 45 ACP revolver in the drawer too.
That's not the point Greg. I can understand any teller not having a huge amount of money at the counter. But I guarantee they have the money in the facility. I asked the supervisor to just add that amount to the teller's drawer and it would balance out, she refused. Any retail store tracks the amount of money loaded in the cash register each shift, and checks the balance of cash transactions. That's good business. But stores have access to more money, so does the PO. By the way, I was trying to cash a 60 dollar MO. I filed a complaint, but it went nowhere.

Amen Brother, ever read what the current Post Master General has written concerning the USPS. It scared the hell out of me. Don't know if it will happen in my lifetime, but the USPS will crash hard someday, the signs are everywhere. Even raising their prices auto-annually, is like putting a band-aid on a compound fracture. We should all band together and get a corporate account with UPS or FedEx, think of the perks, the power of numbers. We are 60,000 strong.
I hope they get it together.

I don't much see the point of them anymore. Half the time you can't cash them directly at the post office and you have to go to the post office to get one which is a huge negative off the bat. Nowadays, if a USPS money order is required to buy, I skip it. I just don't see why the seller can't take a personal check, then simply hold the item until it clears. Sure there is a bit of risk that it might bounce and you get a returned check fee hit to your account, but that's why you don't ship right away so you not out a fee and your sale item. Make it clear to any buyer...easy peasy.

Personally, I prefer Zelle Pay as both a buyer and a seller since it's by far the fastest way to get money into your account or sent off to a buyer without additional 3% fees (or mucking about with friends and family option in paypal) or a waiting period while the money has to sweep from your paypal account into your bank account.

I would do backflips if I could write a check. Uspmo are a pita. I don't know how to do PayPal yet. I guess I could Google it.

Call them and tell them you are bringing in a PSMO and the amount. Tell them to have the cash on hand. Did that for a $3600 rifle I sold.
So you can all your post office? Calling here will get you to a phone tree is a call center somewhere.

Any business that takes your money, charges you for making a money order, then will not honor their own draft and cash it? What is wrong with this picture
I imagine the Federal Government will take it over before too much longer. Then we'll see what the rest of the world has to deal with. Mediocrity will look pretty good then I expect.

I didn't read the entire thread so maybe someone else already mentioned this. If so I apologize.
I thought the whole purpose of requesting a USPS MO was that it's a Federal Felony to counterfeit one. (?) Or so I've been told.

Maybe I'm incorrect. It happens now and again.
You are absolutely correct, Counterfeiting a PMO is a federal office punishable by law. But i have never ever heard of or seen a Counterfeit PMO. The post office can't cash it because they don't have the cash...Not much people use their service so they are mostly dry on cash. i know it may not be a popular opinion but i think its best we use the usps more....I believe it would aid them serve us better.

I quit on them long ago. My local post office wont cash them and I have to drive an hour to a main hub,... BS. My bank will cash them but I wont see the money for almost 20 days. Here is my banks procedure...

You sign and deposit it.
The money is not made available in your account
The bank processes the money order in 12-15 days.
You finally receive a "voucher" in the mail from the bank.
Take said voucher to bank and cash/deposit voucher which is the same as cash.

Too much effort and waisted time waiting for your money from an actual government issued document.

Ya all will love this. It's happened to me TWICE. I go into the PO and give them CASH to create a MO, say $100, for something I am paying for. No problem excepting my cash. THEN, I pull a PMO out of my wallet that I want to cash for LESS than what I JUST handed the clerk, and had them look me in the eye and say they don't have the cash on hand to honor that PMO I'm trying to cash. Remember, My feet have not moved. I have not left the building and come back. They just flat refused to cash the MO. It happened @ 2 different post offices weeks apart. Now if I have to cash one I just go to my bank. I Hate the USPS.

I had faith in the USPS system. Then I needed their service on a fraudulent deal, what a waste of time and breath.
Maybe Amazon will start with a quality service of some kind. Funny how they can ship packages in a timely fashion, AND still make money.
