USPS money order theft

Man you do you and I will have alot less B.S
I've done plenty of transactions with just a check and they have went great.
How are you gonna do individual transactions with a C.C. anyway, I still use a CC alot just not attached and certainly not PP or the likes.

I recently had a money order stolen within the USPS for a transaction on this site, name and address changed in the To: column, then cashed. The copy I received back from USPS inquiry looks like a professional job… not sure how they pulled it off but looks like I’m screwed. USPS has been giving me the runaround for weeks. I’ve gone through all the proper channels and it’s now a waiting game. I’ll never do it again unless my family’s life depends on it. This is slowly forcing us to take electronic payments, etc to avoid risking the loss of our hard earned money. Think about it…. “Mark of the Beast” ….. beware folks!!! it’s coming!!!
Did you use a gel or otherwise unwashable pen? If not, it could easily be washed and rewritten.

Stop using USPS M.O's. Get a certified or cashier's check from your bank, have them, which they can do, print the name of the buyer/company it is meant for and add also a invoice or account number ( if you have it) on the check. Makes it just about impossible for anyone to change the face of the check, plus you have a valid reciept of that check, for records.

A gentleman in our prayer group offered praise to God this morning that his company had received enough payments to make his payroll next week. He then allowed that one of the reasons he was short of cash was that several incoming checks had been stolen within the Post Office. They are stealing the checks and then reselling them on the black market at a discount. He is working with the Postal Service for resolution. Odd that this too is happening in North Carolina.

Cashed at a PO, my PO always says I have to take m.o. to a bank? This has happen after I just paid cash for a m.o. of higher value than I try to cash. So I know they have the money?
This! The post office will happily take your cash to buy a money order, yet they won't cash one of their own. And if they lose the money order after you mail it, it's like pulling teeth to get reimbursed. Money orders are a one way street with USPO.

At least with an ordinary bank check, your account isn't charged if the check is truly lost in the mail (not stolen). With a USPO money order, it's almost like putting cash in an envelope. You pay when you buy it, not when it's cashed like a check. And then if USPO loses it . . . .

I know for large purchases I've made on forums I've always requested the ability to wire funds. I've sent and received through savings accounts with a wire so even if the number got out they can draft. Very secure, same day, legal protection as well.

I always insist on regular PP because of the protection it provides I even offer to pay the fees.

There's no protection at PP for it, regardless of whether you used F&F or paid the fees.
