Update on Magnetic Chrono

Took the new Magnetospeed chrono to the range again for a more thorough workout. Setup was simply tightening the strap to the end of the barrel, as before. No lining up the chrono, waiting till the range is cold, setting up tripod, etc. Simply strap the device onto the end of the barrel and shoot.

Last time, the device did not read my Berger varmint bullets, probably due to the thin copper jackets. I changed the settings, and they read all. Of course, my loads weren't so consistent, but that's not the chronograph!

I did find some loads out of an AR that shot consistently in the .4's, and repeated this at two different sessions, so am now ready to load hundreds for PD shooting. Certainly, with these results, I can't complain that the Magnetospeed had an adverse affect on accuracy.

The device is so simple to use, the time saving alone is worth it! Shoot some rounds for speed, then remove to check zero, and that's it. No tripods, screens, funky readings on sunny or cloudy days, etc. It's concept is a revolution, and the biggest change in shooting that I've seen in a long time. Most other stuff has been an evolution or modification of existing technology, but this device is truly a revolutionary increase.

It will completely eliminate the use of optical chronographs within a few years.

Don't hold your breath, son. Predicting the future is a pretty risky endeavor. If you don't think so, why don't you try some really big stock market bets with your life savings? ;)

After you've tried one you can make up your own mind. I don't get excited by much, but this device is awesome.

The two chronographs that I've owned have none of the reliability or functional problems that you described. My first was an Oehler 33 and I now have a Kurzzeit PVM-21. If you feel your needs are well met, good for you. My earlier point was that you made a dubious prediction, nothing more.
