99% of the gunshops that don't have an in store gunsmith, and a heck of a pile of other types of stores, will tell you to return a faulty gun/product to the mfgr, once a gunshop that has a gunsmith looks at it for you, does, which is purely a courtesy, they'll likely tell you to deal with the mfgr as well, unless it has not been shot, in which case it can be processed as new defective, and their mfgr's rep can take care of it--at minimal cost to them, other than a held up sale, and some non-saleable inventory in the back room, waiting for reps to take it and replace it or credit it. Handling, freight expense, tracking progress & payment, warranty with multiple vendors, is not a small job, it can easily require someone, or two or three people, to do it full time, interferes with customer service and shipping, it's something that costs them money to operate, with very little return other than a supposedly happy customer, it can also piss off as many as it "helps".
