UPDATE: New Bergara .243 win. = Junk?

Mad, really, you all missed that one by a mile. Just think it would be better customer service from Midway. I agree completely the screw up is on Bergara 100%. I have spent a small fortune with Midway and may have paid for one of Larry's safari's myself. Have a order in now with Midway. Would the OP purchase something else from Midway ? Only the OP could answer that. A simple shipping label would do a lot for a very disappointed customer. Other companies do it . Makes a difference for acquiring a return customer.

Manufacturing error or Shipping error?
SO, is it a .243 or a .308?
Guess we will have to wait until tomorrow to find out.

Shipping:
From customer to Midway to Bergera, Bergera to Midway, then back to customer.

Scheels still does the return deal. my brother in law bought a Tikka in 6.5 creed that shot about four inch groups with any ammo and 3 different scopes. Scheels took it back and he picked up a 6.5 prc Bergara from them that shoots sub moa. Edk

I've had 2 guns that needed to be sent back to their factories (Rem, Ruger). I called them both and they sent me shipping labels. Ruger also sent a box for shipment as I didn't have the original.
Ruger customer service is Great!

It’s a .243 win marked on the barrel and the muzzle is definitely .243 diameter, not 30 cal.

To be clear, I understand midway did not make the rifle. I just thought the customer service was lacking when they said it was my problem for not inspecting the chamber/rifling prior to taking it.

I’m planning to call bergara today and I’m sure they’ll take care of it. Just shouldn’t have to deal with this on a new rifle that shouldn’t have made it out of the factory.

Here is a pic of the barrel stamp as well

I just picked up a new bergara in 243 win from MidwayUSA. Shot one round through it am knew something was wrong. Pulled out the brass and there was a bulge around the entire lower neck. Put the camera in the barrel and it looks like they milled a groove around the entire chamber. The throat/rifling looks terrible as well. Called midway and they basically said too bad and offered me bergara’s phone number. Pretty disappointed in midway as I’ve spent about 10k with them in the last month.

Not sure what the best path forward is right now. Not sure I even want to bother with sending it to bergara.

Needless to say, very disappointed

That I’m aware of once you buy a new gun for big box store it’s on you to jump through the hoops

Of the two rifles where one had to go, I kept my bergara this time over the tikka. Surprisingly smoother bolt and just about as accurate as my tikka, but the bolt lift was about half as much on the bergara. I do like the b14 series of rifles

But, as was said earlier, you always contact the manufacturer with a defect issue
