Turn Your FX-120i into a Prometheus

Any update on the fully automated solution that combines a powder drop with the trickler? Closer to being ready for prime time?

Does the V2 trickler's spout of a smaller diameter than the RCBS?

They are both 5/16 tubes. The internal diameter and threads are slightly different but similar. What I did do is chamfer the end with a more shallow angle which seemed to help a little. I tried a few different things.

No update from my end... looks like a project for the winter to work with Kiba to adapt his wonderful POC into a low cost product.

Just like to thank Adam for a fantastic accessory that works well. Have also ordered a V2 Trickler upgrade but having seen some of the very clever ways of dispensing powder in this thread I might look at building a box around mine and adding a auto-drop arrangement. Looks like a fun winter project.

Still working on a less expensive and simpler version of what I made for myself but right now life keeps getting in the way. In the last few weeks work went from dead to constant requests for overtime to maintain schedules. After work and on the weekends I'm trying to finish building an addition to the shop and repairing some dry rot on the house before the weather gets wet. Not much time at the moment to work on the powder throw, but I do have some hardware in hand that looks promising and some ideas to build one for substantially less than I have in the current version.

Heck, I still haven't had any time to do any actual reloading with the one I did build!

My 6 Dasher is supposed to be back late this week-- I need to find some time to whip up loads and head to the range so I'll finally get to use the contraption for the intended purpose rather than just for posting videos on forums. I don't think I've had time to pull a trigger in 2 months, therefore I expect my load development results will be inconclusive because of the out of practice idiot pulling the trigger. :p

hi there ,
i too have mine and it is great ,thanks for the great service adam.
whilst the bearing mod on the trickler sounds great,i have just polished the inside of the trickler body with metal polish on a jag.polished the trickler tube and placed it on a non slip matt and it runs smooth and is as quite as a church mouse.
i have also drilled a small hole in the back of the draft shield and fed the trickler tube in from behind,it enables the pan to be in the middle and so much easier to operate.
paul

I too polished the body and tube and then sprayed Hornady one shot on the bearing surfaces. WAY less friction now... I can spin the tube by hand and it continues to spin for a few revolutions.... When I dissembled it for polishing I found the holes in the trickler body were quite rough in appearance and the tube had significant grooves worn into it despite not having used it much .

Any chance you plan to post/sell plans of the more expensive version (especially if the cheaper version does not come to fruition) for us adventurers looking for a challenge?

Anybody tried to use H335 powder? I almost complete my autotrickler on Raspberry PI. During testing, trickler sometimes overshoots, sometimes not. May be it is characteristic of H335 powder. Unfortunately I have no other powder type for testing.

Future plan is to make change Raspberry on two Arduino (As Adams's original autotrickler), because I have serial port and stepper motor interference.

I use H335 for my 223, and I find it can be trickled very accurately because it takes so many kernels to make a 1/10 grain and they flow out so evenly. The tilt and slider has to be readjusted to compensate for the speed but it works great.

Thank you for info. I'll try to rebuild everything on arduino to exclude interference between serial read/write and motor driver.

V2 trickler arrived this morning. It works great and is smooth and quiet. The new extended tube doesn't wobble like the V1 RCBS two-piece tube. The longer tube makes it easier to place and work with and the larger capacity hopper definitely helps as well.

I modified my V1 with sealed bearings and it works great. The V2 is just much cleaner in execution. The bottom of the base is now covered with felt and I don't have to tape the V2 down to the bench when it's in operation.

Yay! I got the little stick-on felt feet from the hardware store for my v1, but I'm glad to see the incremental refinements like this making it to the finished product.

Is there a market for V1 tricklers? Will take $50 for mine to offset the $85 I had to pay for the V2. Cost does not include postage.

JMHO, I highly doubt that there will be a market for the first versions. That's even if Adam were to sell the electronics and motor separately. It's just a simple RCBS trickler after all.

I probably have an additional $35 in parts (not including my time) when I upgraded the V1 to use sealed bearings. I couldn't just buy a couple of parts but had to buy (washers, shims, etc.) in packs of 20 , I think it was, from M-C. I gave a bunch of the extras to members here because what am I going to do with them? Now that my V1 is upgraded, it works great and I'll keep it as a spare.

Adam knocked it out of the park with the V2 trickler. It's that nice.

I don't blame him at all for coming out with a V2 so quickly. It's great that he did. I think I was the fifth person to purchase the original V1. That was before he had his current website and I got in contact with him through the "comments" section on YouTube. Once I saw that video, I said to myself, "That's exactly what I need!"

You'll really like the V2, it's well worth the price.

Received my V2 trickler today in the UK. Very pleased with the extra length tube as the pan can now sit in the centre of the scale platform.
