Turn Your FX-120i into a Prometheus

Including a couple of mistakes and I think two retries, it took me 14mins27secs to produce a tray of 45 .308 cases each loaded with 46.52+/-.02 grains of Varget (which is way better than I need as a sling shooter).

A typical powder dispensing cycle time was about 17 seconds.

My experience reflects Dan's. Typical timing for a charge is ~ 15-17 seconds.

Just charged 100 Palma cases in ~ 35 minutes (three or four were 0.002mg higher than what I like to see - 2.896mg - so I started over; a couple I dumped the next charge on top of an already filled case so those got rerun too...) then seated 'em in 20.

100 rounds loaded & boxed in under an hour? What's not to like?

(I'm thinking of mounting my AutoThrower on a bracket off the shelf where my Harrell's used to live. Getting Thrower off that thin plastic scale cover ought to quiet its rather noisy operating cycle.)

My own Thower arrived with the drum so tight the motor would not complete a full cycle . . . ie no powder dropped. It was very noisy.

Loosened the drum screw a tad . . . full cycle, much quieter, and with the powder I was using still no leakage. YMMV.

OK, thanks for that suggestion!

I been around stepper motors before, thought the noise was from resonating 'sound board' on which the thrower mounts.

I'll check that screw tension, see whether mine'll benefit from adjustment.

Was hoping that QC would be running them before shipment to be sure of correct adjustment......Hint Hint......Mine has not shipped yet....;)

Actually, if it's shipped as tight as mine you will very quickly find the adjustment knob and it's reference in the manual . . . thus learning all you will ever need to know in just a few minutes :)

Do read the manual and avoid the second pitfall . . . thinking you know how to adjust the charge bar. Don't ask me how I learned this :)

Just got the Auto Throw set up with the 120I/Trickler combo. and it is really easy to do. I AM a self proclaimed Flintstone when it comes to all things electronic and the directions are beyond simple. Got it running with with the thrower set for 2g under the target weight of 29.1 of LT-32 and it nailed it over and over again. I like spending smart money.........;)

Best Regards
Rick

Saw this posted earlier today... really sweet design. I would buy one in a heartbeat if I had the FX120i. Heck, I may buy an FX-120i just so I can buy one of these.

I think the thing you'd want to do from a workflow standpoint is get yourself two powder pans of identical weight, then use a traditional powder thrower to drop your initial charge about .5g low. Swap a new throw with the finished charge, then fill a case and throw a new charge while the trickler finishes. From the look of the video you could cycle the two pans about as fast as your hands could move.

Amazing, and the price is very reasonable.

I ordered mine a couple weeks ago (after hearing/seeing it live locally) and inquired when it might get to my location (upcoming match I want to load for) and received NO reply.
Should I worry? I can use my RCBS Chargemaster - Omega trickler - FX-120i scale and get there, just thought I'd here something back.
I've been told I can be old/cranky ;-)

Lot of my hard earned $ for NO reply.

Adam is good to go. I'm sure he's just backlogged with the new auto-throw.

I talked to Speedy Gonzalez two days ago who measured his auto-throw against his Prometheus.

The auto throw was reported as being faster.

Adams trickler isn't necessarily more accurate than your current set up just a little more automated and maybe a little faster.

I'd just use your current set up for this match.

Adam also holds down a full-time job, and I believe recently got married, so his time isn’t entirely ‘his own’ anymore.

He’s a good guy, rest assured, your kit will likely be shipping soon.

That and he shoots too.

You are good.

I recently added Adam's throw, measuring powder has become something I can do unconscious

Hi,

What's your name? Send me an email. adamjmac@gmail.com. I think I replied to all my emails, so I may have missed it. Note that if you reply to the order confirmation I will NOT receive it as that is an automated email from my online store system and is a do-not-reply email address. Others have had this issue...

I have shipped all orders placed up to September 30 at this point. This Friday there will be another round of shipments going out, not sure yet how many, but possibly all of them to date (if the printers keep on printing...)

When I last ordered from you a few months ago, the automated confirmation e-mail was routed to my spam folder. I checked there and found it a couple of hours after originally receiving it. No worries, in my case...
