Tuner results, the sequel

Lions don't lose sleep over the opinions of sheep.
Today I tested a Harrells tuner brake on my 308. Below is the target. I started somewhat randomly at a setting of 100 (scale is 0 to 150) and started screwing it in (lower numbers). There were no directions on how to adjust it but since the weights are much lighter than the Ezell tuner I put on my 6xc, I decided to move 10 increments at a time. 3 shot groups. The second group at 90 was very good. I continued to 70 and the groups were opening up so I went back to 90 and bracketed it at 87 and 93. 87 was opening, 93 was slightly smaller. I left it at 93. Shot across the course up to 890 yards with hardly a miss. Pretty happy with these results. --Jerry

Hi friend:
The load was already adjusted before testing the tuner, or you made a new load with the tuner already installed ...

I very quickly found a load giving the velocity I was looking for. Less focus on group size as I did that with the tuner.

Zero experience with tuners, will the tuner setting be conditions(temp, humidity, etc) sensitive? Is the tuner repeatable, can it be locked to prevent a position change while transporting? Can a tuner be used on a hunting rifle, like the Browning BOSS?

A tuner setting depends on Muzzle Velocity. So you need to have your Muzzle velocity stable. So as long as your muzzle velocity doesn't change, the tuner position shouldn't change. Now huge changes in temperature such as winter vs summer might make a difference. Humidity isn't generally an issue.

A tuner is used to take a 1/2 moa rifle to 1/4 moa. Is that what you need on a hunting rifle? If you are long range hunting and need this accuracy, it might be useful. But tuners are generally not designed for hunting rifles. Most have friction locks, some can be locked solid. But generally they would not be used on hunting rifles.
