Trigger Tech vs Jewell

Can u get the “primary” down to 1.5-2.0 lbs on a custom action like a Stiller or Kelby?
I really don’t want under a 2 lb trigger with this build since my son will be using it. Also more for hunting/plinking.

1.5-4lb is what it can be set to with no farther adjustments

My Jewells are set into the ounces.
Had a spring break once after about 10k rounds.
Just touch it, there is no feeling the break.
Keep them clean by using a bore guide they last and work well.

I try to read all of the stories about Jewell triggers both good and bad. This is a story about 1 of the 2 original triggers that I have remaining from PD rifles dating back into early 2000. I had 16 rifles that I carried 8 each trip both early and late in the summer, for 8 yrs. None of those triggers ever malfunctioned, and none of those triggers were ever cleaned w/anything, not even lighter fluid.
About 2wks ago, I was fireforming brass, holding the rifle at waist level firing into the ground. I fired 48 slow paced shots,
dropping the brass into a box. When I got home, I found that I had 6 cases w/pierced primers. I know what your thinking, and I thought the very same, they are supposed to break, but this Jewell did not fail. Lucky, maybe ???
The point I am trying to make, a Jewell trigger is no more prone to failure in hunting rifle conditions, than the 700 factory trigger or for that matter any other aftermarket trigger.
If you are on the fence about what trigger to buy, just consider the above facts, before you make your decision. LDS

It really doesn't make any difference which brand you choose, because I sell
both the TRIGGERTECH and the JEWELL. LDS

My life actually got easier when i realized i didnt need a 1oz trigger. Every brand out there works better at 4-5oz and ive found you wont do anything but help your groups. Triggers are way more consistent too once i got a gage thatll reliably measure fractions of an ounce

Hmmm. 4oz sounds way too heavy for a pincher like me......

Larry, can you get me the piece that might brake if a primer is pierced? If so, how much?

Thanks Jim

I have a Jewel HVR on my factory class 308 and TT Diamond on my custom Rem 700 6mmBRA. From day one, the TT Diamond has given me nothing but problems with light primer strikes. The Jewel has been on the 308 for several years without ANY maintenance, not even a simple lighter fluid flush. My first TT Diamond was returned to TT after it locked up the action several rounds after a pierced primer. I could not open the bolt; required removal of the trigger assembly to get the action open. Trigger Tech was great with supplying a replacement trigger in short order. I continued to have issues with the TT Diamond on my factory Remington 700 action, so returned it. Looks like I'll have a second Jewel trigger shortly.

In support of Trigger Tech, I have replaced all my factory Remington 700 triggers with the TT Primary trigger and very pleased. My Benchrest rifle is currently wearing a spare TT Primary trigger until I can get a Jewel purchased/installed.

I have found a difference between a Jewell and a Trigger Tech. I'm not sure what that difference means when firing a cartridge.

I normally remove the firing pin spring while checking the trigger and firing pin function. When doing this, I have to hold the trigger back and push the cocking piece forward with my finger. It takes a substantial amount of pressure to collapse the top sear on a Jewell and hardly no pressure on a Trigger Tech.

The next time I do one I'm going to rig something so I can measure the actual force it takes to collapse a Jewell.

From the triggertech web site.

The TriggerTech Diamond Rem 700 Trigger (for cloned actions only) was designed to meet the requirements of leading competitive shooters with the help of the K&M Shooting Team and several leading R700 Clone Action Manufacturers.

Where the special trigger.

The Rem 700 Special is an upgraded version of the Primary model which further enhances accuracy and precision on any Remington 700 model rifle.

I talked with TT support about that. They said that they do not recommend using the TT Diamond 700 with factory remington actions. It was 'if you have a factory remington action, do not use the Diamond 700 - period" type of response.

That is correct.

I use all 3 on hunting rifles. My personal favorite was the Jewell HVR, but the BixnAndy tac sport pro has taken that place for me. I like really light pull weights on my hunting rifles, its what Im used to and the Bix has the best feeling break to me. No complaints with Jewell or TT either. I use more of the TT for the guys that like a 2-3lb trigger.

Id love to replace my bix n andys with thriggertech. Im pretty heavily invested. I have 2 primaries in hunting guns and a diamond and love em
I’m surprised to hear this! I’ve only heard of upgrading TO the b&a, not from.

what did you find lacking in the b&a?

I have a regular B/A tac sport( the 10 ounce to 4.5 pound one ) set at 12 ounces. It’s really, really nice compared to 2 real nice Jewell’s set at the same weight. No bad choice with these two brands.
