I use A 200W magnetic heater to warm up the oil prior to start up on dyno engines that have steel oil pans. Decided to experiment with it a bit.

Temp in the die cavity:

Heater on the raised press base:

40 minutes later:

Didn't point any bullets for an A-B test as yet. The powder coating on the base plate acts as a bit of a heat barrier, fwiw.

Jim, you've got a good setup that makes known-good bullets....a great way to start out. With your attention to detail, you'll be making great bullets right out of the gate.

I am contemplating things like bench height and do I need or want the presses to be angled. I am leaning towards having the ability to sit down as well as angling the presses. I need to figure out a preferred angle, then come up with a mount, then have someone local fabricate it for me. I was thinking something simple like two plates welded together to create the appropriate angle and holes drilled in both plates for bracket attachment to the bench and press attachment to the bracket.

Jim, take a look at what Inline Fabrication has. I have a 4" unit. In short order, I'm going to get another one and slice and dice it as an angled mount. -Al

Thinkin mine is 45* and the top of my motorcycle lift is at 25 1/2" when doing bullets. Clear to top when reloading. I'm 6' 5"
