Time to make the donuts....

I have been getting a consistent swaged core within .06 grains with 4 grains pure lanolin per 500 cores tumbled for 15 minutes. Im around 3 grains over on a very consistent cut core. My die is 1 squirt hole made by Pindell. I do not double pump...one single and steady. I've tried both...I get more consistency with one steady, but quick. I am new at all this, but find that you almost have to find your own groove as to the process and technique that allows you to feel and see the details. This thread should be made into a book!
I am a good bullet tester at 1000 yards. I can let you know if they will shoot . Your bullet tester from MISSISSIPPI

I machine tumbled cut cores once, never again.......messy

I don't find it too messy. Coleman in a glass mason jar and paper towel makes easy clean up. I wear latex every time I chunk and squirt and fill jackets.

I've tried the MM oil and Acetone and seemed to have a sticky feel when swaging and terrible consistency. Granted my MM oil is maybe 20 years old. Maybe not what it should be.

I have Cool Tool...I may give that a try.

Cool tool works really well for me. I put 250ish cores in a jar and add 2 drops of ct then hand tumble for about 20 seconds, add 250 more cores, 2 more drops and tumble again for 20 seconds and so on. The last 250 of the 1000 I just add 1 drop and hand tumble for a minute.
The next time I squirt core I'm going to only use 6 drops of ct per 1000 and see how that goes. If the cores don't eject smooth I'll know it's not enough lube.

I may have posted this before, but in case I didn't here is the best bullet making thread that I have seen, The issue of core lubing starts on the 8th post.

Tim, I did that early on.

Following Randy's advice, I looked at the cores with a 20X loupe....and wondered why in the world I'd want  less core surface contact with the jacket.:oops:
This is a question that has plagued me since I started producing my own bullets.
I've read in several forums that the core should be etched.
And the issue of having a smaller contact area by doing this operation is bothering me.

I certainly can’t shoot the difference between etched and unetched. I’ve tried a little bit of everything etched not etched washed and squeaky clean slightly lubed straight out of the box from Charlie.
I really can’t tell any difference in any of it. That said I do etch mine just because it makes me feel better

I may be wrong but the etching seems to act like a lube

This is the second batch of jackets I've received in this color.
Has anyone else received them like this?
I'm placing alongside some jackets in a normal color for comparison...
Pardon my ignorance,
Are you saying that the darker jackets are a freshly opened lot?

I could be remembering wrong but don't they look like some of the pictures of post production stress relieved/drawn back jackets by Randy R or someone that has been posted in this thread?
