Below is a pic of a more recent ( last month ) 600 yard target that I shot.
This was with weight sorted brass to 1.0 gr spread and trickled charges to 0.1 grains of AR comp with Berger 82's out of a Bartlein 1x7 5R 20 inch barrel ( 4200'ish rounds thru it ) AR15 Service rifle and 4x Scope shot prone from a sling.
Note the nice low velocity Standard Deviation number is,,, but not so great elevation by me.
Classic example of the skill of a position shooter not living up to all that potential that quality ammo delivers. ( velocity numbers shown are at target traveling thru the ET Microphones )
Conditions this day was hot and sunny with heavy mirage and winds from left to right going up and down from around 3 - 10 MPH fairly quickly with occasional complete quick let off or reversal.
My selected strategy for this string was to try to stay on the left side of the X ring so a pickup while I was on the gun should still keep me in the 10 ring (if I hold good elevation making best use of the fattest part of the 10 ring) and hold off from shooting in a reversal because what I saw for predominate conditions before I shot 600 was the reversals were short in duration.
I shot my 1st sighter with my no wind zero on to see what the condition was worth.
But i did feel like I broke it on the right a bit. In no wind it should have came up just out of the X ring at 3 o clock if on call.
As you can see I was watching the mirage and flags so much I didn't do a great job holding elevation.
I know I broke shot 11 high the second the Geiselle hammer fell. Same for shot 14 but i got lucky on that one...
Shots 2 and 4 were my all too common nemesis of too heavy on the trigger from time to time.
Yes a few that could have been X's were close / just out (shots 5,17 & 19),,
but close only counts in horseshoes and hand grenades right ??? lol
