Lee Perfect Powder Measure

Just thought I would share my results with this powder measure. I have been using it for almost a year now and just recently got into precision reloading and getting my feet wet in F/TR shooting. Prepping my match loads tonight I decided to get some statistics using this powder measure. I weighed 50 charges of Varget on my Gem Pro 250 scale that is calibrated and good to go. My charge weight was 44.2 gr. With my 50 charges thrown, my average weight thrown was 44.17 gr, my ES was 0.55 and my SD was 0.15.

Not too bad for a powder thrower with it's price tag. Just wish the stand part of this tool was more sturdy but oh well.

I have seen similar results. I have a bunch of measures but this cheap piece of plastic (with a little tuning and deburring) throws anything but ball powders very well. I use it for 4064, 4831, 4350 and 4895.

I also use the Lee Perfect Powder Measure for F-class and like it very much. I have it set to drop ~0.1gn under and then trickle up on a Gem Pro 250 (used to use a Acculab VIC-123 but the Gem Pro is more stable). I find that I usually don't have to trickle on more than a couple of kernels to be spot on, and can load fairly quickly this way.

The Lee measure is so cheap, I have one dedicated for every load that I use (one for my .284 Win. load, one for my 6.5x47L load, etc) that I set once and generally don't touch. I had a bunch of 1" thick stair bullnose left over, so I had them cut into 12" strips and mounted two Lee measures on each, one on each end, with each measure being labeled for the powder/charge combination. I then use a C-clamp to mount it to the bench. So I only have to grab the specific measure for whatever I'm loading that day. Couldn't do that with a $100 measure for cost reasons, and I find it saves me a lot of time.

One of the greatest features of the Lee Powder Measure is the ability to twist the powder hopper and lift it off with powder in it.

Yes, Lee does make some nice products. I've gotten rid of 2 expensive measures & still have the Lee that I started with years ago. Their dies are also light years ahead of where they were 20 years ago.

I like red cheery pie better than blue berry. The red just seems to run smoother to me.I guess it being self lubed is the reason I likes it so much.OOOOOOPs this post isn't about that red tool I use, sorry but I do love me some Lee tools.

Not a big fan of the LEE plastic measure, but I do actually use the LEE classic turret press for my varmint rifles. Really surprised how well it works for a $90 turret press! All my varmint rifles are 1/4 moa 5 shot rifles using that little press. Well worth the money imo.

I use some of their dies for 223 rem and 44 mag. Nothing wrong with their dies. Only thing I don't like is the oring to lock the die nut. But I replaced them with Forster rings since I have a bunch of them for other dies that I use in my Forster Co-Ax press

Did anyone make a better stand for one?

Been meaning to. A few scraps of plywood would probably make a better stand, plus add a little more off-set.

But then you'd need a longer drop tube, and a bigger reservoir... ;)

Right now mine's just screwed to a piece of scrap that I attach with a quick-clamp to the bench top as needed.

Just last night I got me old little scale out.( 13 years old to be a fact ) I went to checking it and found it to be .1 like the OP did.Well I even went on to weighting a few for a new load and bullet combo for hunting.I guess when the time comes I'll be finding out to if I'll go back to it,the scale I mean.So fare I love Lee products I have many die sets even in pistol.Just wish I had more guns to own more Lee die's.

I have been using the same thrower for over 10 years now. I ck the consistancy every load and I am amazed. I have the past year or so been dropping light and trickling. However, being as I am a avid hunter and not bench shooter, I doubt it is neccasary. I use Lee dies as well and have been very pleased over the years. A friend of mine was disgusted when I started reloading and said at least bye rcbs dies! I couldnt be happier with lee reloading products! I am not shooting competitivley but the results are superb for the average hunter!

I have a $200 Harrells that won't drop pistol charges (unique-power pistol) worth a darn, but the cheap plastic Lee works great.

When I assembled my kit for handloading a few years ago this was one purchase that I thought "well, be cheap on this now and you can upgrade later".
That little thing is still there and does a great job if you trickle anyway.

May I ask exactly what procedure your using to throw your charges on your Harrells? mine throw's better then any that I have used other then maybe a old Lyman.
