Thoughts on 6BR-AI reamer dimensions.

Looking to try one of these out and wanted to get thoughts on the reamer specs. Looking for specs at .200 line, freebore length, diameter, case length, etc... Will probably be running a .266 neck as I do in my Dasher to keep things similar.

.200 line .4715, freebore length .100, diameter .244, case length 1.570, .461 at shoulder

I don't have one yet, but have great interest in them. I've also been looking into chamber specs as this is an early wildcat many variations exist. I'll be watching this thread closely to see how it shakes out.

Well even thought the current Ackley is a great idea I just shortened mine up 62 thousands an I like what iam seeing on paper an load density I always ran my 6mm dasher at 2970 fps any way I am getting the same velocity node the gun wants to shoot with about 1.4 grs less powder. PS my measurement at 2oo line is about .471 an some change20170102_150321_resized[1338].jpg

What is the difference between this and BRDX?

Thanks

The other thing to think about is Sam Halls original was based on a BRDX which is 0.462-3 at the shoulder and a Dasher 0.460 at the shoulder, so depending on what dies you plan to use this something to consider.
I have attached my print, which I sent to Whidden and dies dies made to suit. Works very well.

Matt, your reamer dimentions are real close to mine. But mine is .463 at the shoulder and .272 neck. Your base dia. is fine at the .200 line. Some people are using Dasher dies cut off at the base to be able to bump the Ackley shoulder. If you go that route, you will need a reamer that is .460 at the shoulder. I had Whidden make custom dies by my brass, so I went with .463 at the shoulder. Realistically .003 at the shoulder will not make any significant difference in capacity or performance. I am still loving this round. All my barrels from now out are being chambered for it! Samuel Hall

I believe my shoulder is 1.138 at shoulder junction brdx is about 1.165 if that helps. I read a post Sam Hall said somewhere whether it is a dasher or something different if you don't have a good barrel an really good bullets it does not matter what you are shooting if I primarily shot 600 hundred yards I would have shortened my case to what tim claunch is playing with but I shoot both 600 an 1000 an I want just a little bit more an its all about R and D that's what drives us all hopefully a better mouse trap.LOL

Thanks for the dimension. If I were to order reamer and/or dies, would I ask for 6BR-AI?

I think isn't whether it's a great improvement, as many are attesting that it is. It's the chamber specs. My biggest question is is there any benifit to going with the .472 or .473 shoulder versus the .470. As Sam mentioned, it seems to depend more on what dies you plan to use. If you're reusing Dasher dies, the question is answered. If you're going custom then you have to decide.

What sort of load do you shoot for fire forming? Is accuracy decent? Thanks

A BR load with cheap bullets... cause you can't get the AI load in till it's formed.

I like the shorter neck case vs the ugly "all neck" look. Tim reamed mine so the hybrids are above the "junction" but one could get a few tenths more powder in the "longer " neck..
HERE's my case in the middle100_6672.JPG

L->R 6.5 x 47 L , Dasher, BR-AI, BR

I think Tim has one reamer for this now...

This print shows a lead with 2degree 30min
Most others show a 1-30
I'm not sure what the thought is there
