If you look up the definition of “getting ass handed to ,him on a regular basis”, you will see my picture.
I too thought I was wrong once but I was mistaken. You are wrong
Not according to the guy who posted on #75 Dave.Ain't we all?
This was a discussion about neck clearance. One of the guys was very strongly opinionated that you absolutely had to have .0018" clearance, absolutely no more than that or you were going to finish dead last. I then asked if he had ever actually measured what the diameter of his actual chamber was.But why does it matter, other than they were different? Did they shoot? Did their brass go in the gun? Did the brass have the proper sine wave. If so it doesn’t matter.
Do you think shooters brass actually measures what they think it does? Usually not even close. All of this gets back to… the only thing that matters is how it shoots.
I’ve run over .005 clearance and the gun still shot. It’s when it’s too tight you get into trouble.

Well don’t Cherry pick Dave! It kicked the crap out of everyone in the HV Grand and all but 1 in the HV 100. We will leave the 2 Gun out of itBe careful of having people switch to no turn. You only beat me by 9 places in the 3 gun, with my lowly .262 neck......
Might get a lab radar also......![]()
And a nice blonde chick to clean for me in a bikini with big ta ta's....that'll throw the guy's off their game.
All good hearted kidding aside, I was a RO at a USPSA Area match that had a team shooting whose sponsor was an adult content media company. They arrived “equipped” with a team of range girls… that squad had the largest crowd following them! But still thinking about the blond.
There is no doubt that @BartsBullets can be an influencer (you know Bart you always wanted to be on tictok! LOL) but the decision for me to change or try no turn is frankly I'm tired of turning necks! Especially when you can't beat him with the infamous .262 neck, I'm not good enough to worry about .0001, Yes it appears I'll be skimming but heck I already skim and it is so much easier to take .0015 off rather than .007! That's just me.Be careful of having people switch to no turn
That's what I'd do. A little more sizing is no big deal. A little too tight is.... It's working for Jackie but no guarantees the next batch will be a tad thinner, or thicker. No real down side one way.. but there is with the other. The trend of late is for more clearance than it used to be. I've found this to be correct, but just IME.That looks good @jackieschmidt, I'm have a reamer built and may change it to a .274 and not turn.
Your BR is a .272...works great, no turn. The newer blue box(or there abouts) BR brass is a little thinner than the previous lots but .272 works good with both. Apparently, we just have to keep a little better eye on brass as it comes out of the box. I'm running .274 in my no turn 6 Grendel stuff and .271 if you want a light turn.I need to order a few more neck reamers anyway. 273 works good for br brass but i need a 274&275 to go with it to be safe
Pretty cotton picking good. Especially for Tomball.Ok, I went to my Gun Club today and tried out this no neck turn .273 neck 6PPC.
I fireformed 12 cases and then fired them again. The barrel I used was pretty old Krieger, maybe vintage 2007. But I had written on it…,”good barrel”, so it is the one that I used the neck reamer to take my .269 neck chamber out to a .273 neck.
After the 2 firings, I used a .271 bushing with my Flat Base 68 grn bullet. The loaded round had exactly .001 clearance in the neck.
This did concern me, by they were chambering easy, so what the heck.
I worked up a load with this barrel, a front had come through, humidity was really low for our area. This meant shoot it hot. Working with the load and my tuner, I got things going.
I then shot these four 5 shot groups for record, all in a switchy left to right quartering condition.
I had zero problems. Extraction was flawless. Everything worked just the way it is supposed to.
The Targets speak for themselves. I only had one shot get away on that first group, missed a let up.
The only thing you might consider if you want to shoot a “no neck turn” is maybe a .274 neck. The base of my Flat Base measures .2434, some are a tad fatter. Boat Tails are generally dead on .243.
Anyway, the no neck turn seems to work pretty darned good. View attachment 1396702
