Thickness of Newer Lots Of Lapua 220 Russian Brass vs Older Lots.

I think you all are over thinking this.

There is a very good possibility that all Bart is doing is necking up the 220 Russian, doing the usual prep work, fire forming the cases to make it into a 6PPC, and sorting them by velocity.

Those not involved in Benchrest tend to think there are some deep dark secrets that are Hidden in the minds of only a few. Many shooters cultivate this myth.

But the truth is, it’s about good barrels, good bullets, and good tuning. And of course, having the skill to take advantage of these three.

Sounds simple. But just think about everything involved in finding good barrels, making good bullets, and maintaining a competitive tune.

I agree 100% Jackie! And on a side note I believe Bart only sorts brass by velocity for long range.......not srbr. I could be wrong, but that's the way I understand it.

Asking a super competitive winning shooter exactly how he makes his ammo & how he makes his final decisions of when to, or not to shoot, I think is kin' to asking for my Grandmothers German potato salad recipe.......;)

Rick
I’m an open book!

But I’ve had Christmas House guests for the last week, and trying to keep things from freezing up. Found this post last night. I’ll try and measure some of my ammo today. But I had a 2am wake up and a two hour drive to the airport for a 5am check in.

The only sport where your competitor will try to help you win!! Well played sir! I've had so much help from the shooting community it's unreal.

Thanks, but do you know what the chamber actually measures? You know how things go sometimes. Most likely more clearance than what reamer is? Maybe.I don't know what mine measure either. Just curious if you knew.
Let's go back to if a bullet slips into a fired case. It's a good check. And nope, I've never seen a reamer cut exact dimensions. Some of that can be in the reamer some the steel itself and of course, the setup. Everything has tolerances, though. And I agree with you but I've never seen a reamer cut smaller than itself. The bullet slipping through the neck is a pretty good check, imo.
