>>>>>The SECRET.... 6.5 CAROLINA LOAD<<<<<<

Well, picked up my cousins gun and loading stuff yesterday. He said it was all
together. He ha everything he had for the Creed sitting on his table. Several
extras just to make sure I had everything I needed. GOt home and started
opening it up and found 2 ammo boxes to put it in and grabbed the Laupa box
to check out the brass, it was empty. He had took it out and primed it and
forgot to put in back in. Looks like another trip to his house...lol
He's working in Fl. and wont be back for 3 weeks. Just my luck, but I will
try out the "LOAD" in it when I get the brass...

REALLY that is what all this is about???? H4831 I've been using it in my 6.5 for almost 20 years. Come on tell me there is more??? I've used it with 142 sierras, 140 Amaxs, 140 Bergers and JLKs. This was just like waiting on Geraldo Rivera to open Al Capone's safe. Ill let you in on a little Loxahatchee Secret Load,(cause we ain't so backward down here) IMR 4831 always shoots a little better in my gun than H4831.

Do you have any numbers for the IMR 4831? I have a ton of it that I am not using for anything at the moment.

Now remember.... that your groups may be only the size that your scope will allow you to aim and hold on precisely. More power the better for bughole groups.

Kermit... the LOAD.... may not shoot well in your area unless you call it the CAROLINA LOAD.......LOL.

40Fan... those groups look good... are you happy with those?

Yeah, good groups! Especially for the Axis with the factory barrel.

This is the first time I have shot the Hornady bullets in one of my guns in 10+ years, so really glad to see the results from the 140 ELD-Ms.

I plan on investigating further powder charges/seating depths and see what happens.

For poking a little fun at you in the beginning, I am now really glad that you posted this. Thanks.

I tried H4350 in my savage 12 FV 6.5 CM, with a couple of different powder weights, from left to right...#1-#4 it shot okay on the lighter charges I then shot the Carolina Load at #5 and it strung them out. While scratching my head as to why... it dawned on me that I should clean the barrel when changing powder type loads. So I cleaned the barrel and shot 3 rounds with the Carolina load on #6... including the first fouler shot...even with noon time mirage with a 32 power bushnell 4200 scope. That is easily within a 1/4". The mirage was bad enough that if it didn't group, I would have blamed it. I bought a savage axis 6.5 CM last saturday for my elderly friend to shoot, and it shoots the Carolina Load right at 1/2"...WITH THE COMBO 3-9 SCOPE THAT CAME WITH THE PACKAGE. It might shoot like the FV if I changed scopes for the test.

Forgive my chicken scratch writing... I did that before I thought about taking a pretty picture....LOL.

I shot my savage 12 FV 6.5 cm with the Carolina Load today along with my 20 Vartarg, and they were both in competition to see who could put the most bullets into one jagged hole... them Guys... always competing... LOL.... I think it was a tie... they both got a Blue Ribbon.

44.3 works for me in both my FV and Axis. I tried a couple steps higher and lower in the beginning with my FV, but they seem to open up a tad more... the 44.3 just pounds the same hole area. I will find it's speed when my chrony comes back.
