>>>>>The SECRET.... 6.5 CAROLINA LOAD<<<<<<

44.3g of H4831
Hornady brass
Fed 210
seated to touch the lands
2600 fps
an inch or a tad less at 300, bug hole at 100 yards
140g ELD-M
Remington 700 factory 6.5 Creed, bolted in a Mag pro stock, no bedding, replaced trigger

9 1/2 primer opened up groups
jumping the bullets .060 opened up groups to 3/4" at 100 yards
140g Hornady BTHP would be a better bullet to use due to OAL when touching the lands vs the ELD-M. The 140g ELD-M seated to touch the lands was absolute Max OAL in the Mag Pro magazine.

We gotta post some pictures of these targets! :D I might have my video camera with me tomorrow. Hope the weather cooperates.

Got 2 gun to try it in as soon as I get a chance.
Both are the same modle in the Creed. A friends,
and a cousin's. GOt the stuff but not here at the house
yet.

.040 off the lands?

You are shooting two groups with the ELDM bullet!

Seat the bullet to touch the lands!!!

Other brands of primers blew the groups, also.

140g SST jumping .060 shot around .300 in my Rem Varmint.

Yes

Nope, one 6 shot group. I was going to shoot 4 - 3 shot groups, but forgot some foulers. Since I shot the SMKs all at once, I did the same with the ELD-Ms.

Seat the bullet to touch the lands!!!

I'll test more...

BR-4s here.

I tried different seating depths as well but my best groups were at 2.800, which is jumping .080 in my savage FV

Yeah, this is a new barrel for me. I don't have a lot of data for it, but my other two Savage barrels liked the .040" jump. Gave it a shot, but I haven't given up.

Kind of looks like it after stitching all of the shots together. Fly is there is one frame and gone when the bullet hits. That video was edited down to save time. I don't shoot that fast.

Well, sheet! My results might have been tainted! This could probably explain the swings in velocity I saw today.

I just got done SS pin cleaning some more brass, like normal, and drying them in my easy bake oven, like normal. When pulling these pieces of brass out of the oven a noticed a smidge of water come out of one of the cases. Started checking others and noticed moisture in most of them as well.

I did the same thing last night for the brass I used today. (except check for moisture)

It has been raining quite a bit here lately and now I am thinking there is enough humidity in the basement that the normal amount of drying time that I use for the cases wasn't enough. I am re-drying the cases I have in there now and turning on the dehumidifier.

Bummer.

REALLY that is what all this is about???? H4831 I've been using it in my 6.5 for almost 20 years. Come on tell me there is more??? I've used it with 142 sierras, 140 Amaxs, 140 Bergers and JLKs. This was just like waiting on Geraldo Rivera to open Al Capone's safe. Ill let you in on a little Loxahatchee Secret Load,(cause we ain't so backward down here) IMR 4831 always shoots a little better in my gun than H4831.
