The photo is from Colt's website. If what JRS posted is your "new" Python?Which it ain't.....only thing I see is someone bashed the trigger guard on the edge of their bench?
Colt revolvers aren't like other co's.The cylinder turns, into the frame, the riffeling twist turns the barrel "into" the frame, and they have an engineered in "stack" to their actions.....which some folks actually like.Horses for courses.I won't go into one of my Pythons, talk about shame on me?Bluing wore off,few parts thrown at it,15k + rounds through it.It's an 8" hunter model with custom scope mounts,Hogue grips, custom sling swivels.Heck, the original box and grips sold for more than I paid for it.They were made to shoot!
Python triggers are nice, until you pick up a properly tuned N-Frame Smith.I was always in awe of the trigger.

Maybe, but I have both, and the Python didn't require any tuning to get there, and it is significantly better than the untuned Smiths.Python triggers are nice, until you pick up a properly tuned N-Frame Smith.
Yep, but I used to tune three screwed S&W revolvers, and you can get them pretty nice. But they still won't compare to an original Python out of the box. They are not worth the current asking price though.Python triggers are nice, until you pick up a properly tuned N-Frame Smith.
The Python (1955) is the younger cousin to the Cobra (1950).The finish is just awful. All the older Pythons are ashamed of their younger cousin.
Not as bad as Browning and their new "A5." That one hurt my feelings.
The new A5 is actually nicer than the original.
Don't agree. The Rohrbaugh was a nice gun, but prone to all kinds of issues, and at $1,000 it should not have been. Remington bought Rohrbaugh out, produced the RM380 (I carry one from time to time) and the gun works flawlessly now. Price was under $400.00 now for a Rem380/Rohrbaugh. BUT the original Rohrbaugh was a nightmare to operate. (Ask me how I know). The times of the quality of 70’s pythons and super x1 shotguns are over forever. Nobody in a production capacity can do it for long- somebody with a bright idea will cut some corners to save money. Rohrbaugh is a good example- they made a carry pistol like a fine watch, along comes remington and turns it into hi point quality. Why they would buy that company then just trace the outline on a piece of paper then throw away the blueprints is beyond me. Just the mentality of companies these days
