The 22xc Thread

Giving the magnum calibers a rest. Spun on this 22XC in a long action Remington 700. While my mag barrel gets chopped and threaded properly. should i load some 90gr smk or 75gr eldm first ?

I got my barrel from Brad in December. Shot enough to get a suitable load for close range (300 and in) and went calling. Called in the two foxes in the pic. Went back to North Dakota a bit faster than expected after Christmas and didn’t shoot it again till today. I found some 85.5 Bergers on the way home at a Runnings in South Dakota. Literally put 38 grains of RL16 in 5 cases, seated a 85.5 on top with the same die setting I used for the 75eldm and shot the two groups in the pics. I think I’m done at 100, time to stretch the legs on it and see if it holds at distance. Brad was great to deal with and had lots of info to share about the 22xc. Don’t hesitate to do business with him. This is not a benchrest gun and I don’t expect it to shoot like one, half MOA for 5 is good enough for pigs, yotes and other varmints out to 500, so all in all I’m super happy.

Very cool.

What is that brake?

If you put the
I would think the 22xc is actually super easy. I think it is all about the brass. 6xc from Tubb is cheap and one resizing and you are GTG.

I have sold two barrels so far.
same twist into a barrel on a 22-250, would you not have about equal results as this 22xc ?

Finally! I was able to get to the range yesterday to shoot my new build. Lone Peak Razor action with a Shilen 2 oz. , One of Brad's bull barrels and his Revolution 3" BR stock. Conditions were terrible and the groups were not encouraging but I did get some time with the Magneto Speed. The conditions were perfect this morning. The load was the same on all five groups on the target below. 75 ELD-M over 38.3 H4350 with CCI-450s. First two groups were just touching. Backed off on the last three. This was more like what I was expecting. Looks like this barrel will be a shooter.

my 9T shilen would not stabalize the 75's at 500 ft elevation in a 223 AI with 29" barrel. A well known gunsmith on this board is shooting the 75's at 3450 fps in the 22/250 AI and I think the power he is using is H4350 fps. The 22/250 AI has a shorter neck, blown out more with 40* shoulder angle, all of which adds a tad more case capacity.

The 22 XC is the easy button!

I've got Tubbs 6xc dies. Is there a bushing available for 22xc with shoulder built in it? What are you all using for bullet seating?
I am looking at a 22xc build instead of a 22-250ai since I already have brass and 6xc dies

You should tell Tubb you want a 252 Tubb bushing for me!!!

Everyone tell David how much we love his 22xc and he should stock 22xc brass!!

:)

Just ordered the 22XC barrel from Brad. Awesome guy, very knowledgeable. Now if I can find my XC HS gauge
Will Tubbs final finish bullets be needed for this barrel?

Barrel goes on the lathe today. Die, bushing, new brass are ready and have already necked down the brass. Prepping action today as well

Brad, I apologize I have not looked here in a while. The brake is an APA fat bastard. I can’t remember what gen it is.

Barrel is on and headspaced. Going to take a bit longer since I'm changing stocks and need to removed recoil lug bedding and bead the thicker recoil lug. This is a BR stock made by Kevin Rayhill for this action
