The 22xc Thread

Believe me, I know they work. I have 2 of them and thus the wonder why he would elect to not compare the 22 Creedmoor to those other cartridges.

It'd be interesting to see the 22xc, 22-250, 22GT and 22creed side by side for a comparison.

Wasn't the 6xc originally a 6x22-250 slightly blown out to make the case more parallel so it feeds better?

I've never shot the 22gt so have no experience with it. I've shot the 22-250, 22-250AI, 220 Swift, 22xc and the 22CM all in 14 tw barrels at one time or another with 50-55gr bullets. In the end it all comes down to what works best for you. My pick of the litter was the 22xc only because I have a 6xc and thus have the brass to make it work, the one I had was slightly the more accurate of the bunch, and gives up literally nothing in performance. IME, the 22-250 isn't a fair comparison except for a baseline. And I really like the 22-250, but if you really want to press the envelope on speed, the others are what you're looking for. I used them for 'chuck hunting. JME. WD

Yeah makes sense to consolidate parent cases like that.

Based on the ultimately accurate interwebs information case capacity looks to be around the below. As we know some cases with better brass and / or small primers will handle more pressure in addition to their capacity

22gt 43gr
22-250. 44gr
22-250AI 47gr
22xc 50gr
22 creed 52gr

That's pretty close.

We haven't found that we can shoot the 22 cm any faster than the 22xc or 22x47l. It seems to pressure out sooner.

It seems that the 22cm is the least efficient. It does shoot just fine, but the extra capacity has no real benefit.

Testing the 22bra next. :)

Your experience does not mimic mine. I've had a .22x47 in the past, and have 2 .22 Creedmoors now. The 22 CM is 200 fps over the top of the 22x47.

Thank you for posting the 22xc info. It's an interesting cartridge. I just happen to have a Savage pta in 6 br with a Criterion barrel. It would be cool to switch back and forth. I have an old Ruger 22-250 to finish shooting out! I really like the shoulder angle of the xc and had contemplated rebarreling the Ruger in 22-250 AI similar but not same same.

I'm starting to like, the lesser Powder Capacity of, the .22 G T as, I like, 50 to 52 grain Bullets, "Down loaded" a Bit for, LESS Recoil, to reduce, Muzzle Jump, in, an 8 Pound, Braked, Sage Rat, Rifle.
Ya I know that, I should have Bought,.. a .223 or, 222 but, the Wifey forced me into, the like New, 1981 Model, Rem 700, Sporter, in .22-250 Rem., Years ago ( Now, I'm stuck with, IT and, a Man's gotta Evolve,.. Right ?? ).
My Barrel Has been, "taken care of", so I have a Few Hundred ,"Good Shots",.. Left !
I'm just starting to Look, at other cartridges BUT, seeing, the "Hit's" and great, Accuracy to, 300 - 400 yards, Trump's Speed for, ME !
I'm sure that, the .22 XC is "Ideal" if, needing / wanting more, Speed.

Fixing to get back into my rifles with the weather getting better. Hopefully more data will be available soon

@urbanrifleman do you have any issues pulling bullets with a 75eldm jammed 20k if you need to remove a love round from chamber? West Texas Ordnance has a 22lrv(xc based wildcat very similar to this) have heard nothing but good things about it.
