My 22 XC will shoot 75 ELDM at 3350 with a very mild load. They are not even making 6x47 brass anymore. I suggest you go to the XC

It's easy to make 6x47 brass from 6.5x47. That's how we did it for years before companies started making brass.

Ran a pressure test in the some winds yesterday at 300 yards and was shocked to see just a touch over 1/2 moa of vertical for 240 fps spread roughly with the 85.5’s and 0 pressure still at 3116

Varget.

Going to run a little higher to find max for curiosity purposes, then run 2/3 ladders at 450 or 550 to see what it will do. Going to try cfe 223, n140, n150 as well

150 ish rds. on barrel FPS 3180 no pressure signs
bug holes at 100 yds.

Well I finished fire forming today and ran the second two small pressure tests. The fire forming loads were 75gr eld-m’s at 3050fps




Then I shot the 2 small pressure tests with the 85.5’s and had them at 3200fps. The primers look good but have a slightly ejector swipe, no click and no change in bolt lift at those speeds. I’ll probably call that max so I don’t ruin brass life too fast lol.

Loaded up 4 for an elevation check then shot the ladder which also shot in the mid 3’s.


I will take it too 500 ish for a true ladder and find a load for the 85.5’s then try cfe 223

My pressure test showed slightly better consistency today with the hornady’s then yesterdays Berger (not exactly fair diffeeent conditions). Going to step up 4/10ths more for max and repeat ladder at 500 for both side by each to get a better idea. The barrel is running faster than I anticipated which is always nicer if there happens to be a node with the 75’s at 3250-3300 range it would make for a sweet little round. We will see.

It’s the 75’s ans 85.5’s not the 80.5’s but yes I was jumping both.

Does 28.5 of Varget behind a Berger 85.5gr sound right (safe) for fire forming? I also considered 27.5 ??? I measured some of the neck sized (.248 bushing) cases and the base to ogive is approx .002- to .003 SHORTER (less) than stock 6 br brass. Good, bad,or indifferent? Again, much thanks to all....these posts are like an owners manual, the only one I've bothered to read!!!! rsbhunter

Well the mirage was horrible today, but I tried to shoot the ladders anyways. I wouldn’t say it was a huge success but I took what looked to be nodes from the previous pressure ladders and shot a 3 shot group with the bergers 85.5’s and the hornady 75’s to verify dope at 550 before putting the ladder on paper and the groups were great!

The 85.5’s ran to 3250fps with the top charge and was still safe but I’m happy to call it max with a slightly shiner ejector swipe. The 75’s went to 3400 and still seemed like I could squeeze more out if I wanted but just started getting the minor ejector swipes so happy to call that max too.
