Teslong Borescope... what a suprise...

Was looking around for a little and decided to get the Teslong Borescope. Got it in the mail and set it up. It was a little finicky with setup but mainly, first have it on and working with the camera app running then connect to the camera wifi.

OH MAN, I am seeing the errors of my ways. From Carbon buildup, to copper buildup, to some rust on my muzzleloaders! I was just proved to be a total slacker when it comes to cleaning rifles. Luckily I do have some that aren't horrible.

Spent the rest of the night just running CLP down the barrels to oil them up and will be going to town one by one cleaning them up.

Highly recommend that Teslong. Will be completely revamping my cleaning routing based on that one purchase.

I agree,
I bought one a year or so ago, changed up my cleaning routine and all my barrels looked great....... then I shot some of the smallest groups at 600 and short range I have ever shot. It did make a difference on target. Then I started slacking...... had a match a couple of weeks ago and shot ok..... just ok. After cleaning I decided to take a peek down the bore as one of my Dasher barrels is now has about 1500 rounds down the tube. Guess what.... it was gross!
I am a slacker is there a weekly meeting for that?

What it is showing is that these ideas that

"I run three patches of XYZ and my barrels are clean"

And

"Such and such cleaning ruins barrels"

Are just misinformation.

Nothing like seeing it for yourself on the borescope and the target. For yourself!!

picture is supposed to be a clean barrel at least patches were indicating a clean barrel also found what was the beginning of carbon ring.Cant find the picture after a proper cleaning.JB and Kroil was only thing that would get the carbon out!I did find pic of carbon ring or what was carbon ring.

Good advice.

Clean that sucker. Take a barrel that's not shooting like it used to and clean it until it sparkles. Then shoot it. 5 bucks says it goes back to shooting.

A buddy of mine bought a Teslong after trying mine. He checked all his modern guns, and found some problems with insufficient cleaning. No big deal. He checked a black powder rifle, and could tell from the display that the middle third of the bore was caked thick with carbon. He's been trying to get the stuff out now for about 2 months; says he's close, but there are still some stubborn spots that refuse to come out. His normal routine was to pour hot water mixed with Ballistol down the tube, brush, and swab dry. After finding the problem, he's tried a dozen different solvents, and more scrubbing ideas than you can shake a stick at. Apparently he's going to modify his "normal" routine now.

Im running one through a cheap chromebook just using the camera app that came on it.Works great.I do have to have the teslong plugged up before I open the chromebook then just a matter of clicking on outside camera waalaa pictures of my sorry cleaning regimen but,I've stepped up my game .

I'm on Android; the supplied app didn't work on my phone or tablet. Downloaded "USB Camera" from the Play Store, and it works fine (this is with the cabled, flexible Teslong version.)

I am glad there is a good inexpensive borescope out now. I have a Hawkeye that I still use everyday and it does have better resolution. But I also have the video screen for it and this stupid $50 borescope blows it away. Its not the HD one though. I have been having fun taking videos with mine Plugs right into my samsung cell phone. Be careful twisting them, my first one lost resolution and I think I may have hurt it by twisting it too much.

The $50 model is the 36" semi-rigid model while the $75 model is the 26" rigid model. Software for either one can be found free from the Google Playstore for Anderoid phones (I've had the best luck with the Endoscope Camera app - NOT THE HD). Using Chromebooks or Windows-based computers, the resident camera programs (the one installed for your built-in camera) will work. Just remember to have the device plugged in before opening the program, then select the USB camera. Both models fit USB, USB-C and the older charging inputs by simply changing the cable ends. Everything you need to connect is provided. DO NOTE: Neither of these will work with Apple products. For IPhone use you will need to use the WiFi version of the Teslong.
