Tack Driver 5

Weren't you fooling with the 6GT last year ??
Two years ago I shot a GT. This year I shot a straight 6BR. BRA barrel was all chambered. Just didnt have time to get it up and running properly.

The GT is a nice cartridge but just dont offer quite the same level of pinpoint accuracy as the BR and its variants. At 500 to 600 yards I think it would compete.
The 300 meters are still a shot range game. But you dont know til you try.

I have at least one more wildcat left in me, and with all demise of
my 7mm bullets. it looks like a 30 to be pulled from the back burner.
Some time back, Stan Taylor and I were going over a barrel spec I
needed, and one thing led to another about taking that new 6GT
case and marrying a .30 to it. He was working hard on the 30x47
at the time. He was one of a kind......Might have to order in some
30 Palma SP brass and get to shortening and tinkering.

I miss Stan being on here,

Instead of talking about ppc powder, bullets, neck diameter, etc on and on, yall need to visit tent city and snag a homemade cookie or two. We still talk on and on about rifles, shooting, etc. But the food is better. Not to mention the company.
The cookies went quick from Lisa's bakery but not near as quick as the pumpkin roll, it seems to be the tent city favorite.

One of the cool things about this match is not only the different types of rifles but the variety of cartridges. For Tack Driver II I was running 103’s in a 22 pound BRA. For Tack Driver IV I was running 65’s in a 10.5 pound 6PPC. One has an advantage in the wind while the other has a slight accuracy advantage. I finished in the exact same position in the Grand Agg both times.

I’m going to be testing a 22 pound 6.5X47L before Tack Driver V and will show up with one rifle with two barrels and make my cartridge decision based on the weather forecast.

Dave.

Stan posted this up for the 30x47 he was working on for TD-3.
Always had that Bud Lite around for bore cleaner he claimed.....
I miss Stan. I’m still shooting a jug of Varget that I bought from him. That jug of powder has produced a win at the World Open, high placements in National events and a tiny little 1” 1K group at the Rendezvous.

I’ll kind of hate it when I burn it all up.

Dave.

Where can I buy some official TD targets?

Oh, Happy Thanksgiving everyone.
The tackdriver targets are just standard IBS 200 yard score targets and 300 yard group targets. Just pick up some 200 yard score targets. Use them to practice both groups and score.
National target company has them. Others as well. Ask Mike where he found them.
And Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours also.
