I am speculating, but I think the ARC would be the much easier choice. Correct?6.5 Grendel or 6 ARC will work.
My understanding is that 22 Russian brass was resized from 7.62x39 brass for running deer target shooting back in the early 60s. If that is so, then using 7.62x39 if 220 Russian is unavailable seems smart... Well as long as its good brass.I seem to remember reading that the original 6PPC was formed from 7.62x39 brass.
To me, it seemed the answer to why Lapua would ever make 7.62x39 brass.
The Norma 6PPC brass has been working great in mine. -AlAny suggestions for a substitute for 220 Russian in making a 6ppc round?
Thankfully I am in good shape brass wise for now, but since it may get super tight in the supply line next year, just trying to think ahead and maybe experiment now.
I was just wondering if anyone has tried this with... less than stellar... military brass and how it went.7.62x39 . . .RG

I have never seen much 7.62x39 military brass around here that wasn't steel case so that wouldn't work.I was just wondering if anyone has tried this with... less than stellar... military brass and how it went.
Remington used sr primers for a while but that changed a few years ago. It was junk anyway.I have never seen much 7.62x39 military brass around here that wasn't steel case so that wouldn't work.
I know of only two brass manufacturers that offer brass cases in the caliber, Starline and Lapua.
Honestly, at this point you would likely find Norma 6PPC brass before either of those two's brand.
Then, and maybe the biggest negative for PPC shooter, I don't know of any 7.62x39 with small primer pockets (then I haven't really looked that hard) being produced in today's market.
Have you used it enough to see if it will hold up as well as Lapua? The Norma 6PPC brass has been working great in mine. -Al
One case used as a fouler/test case has been fired over 25 times with no issues. Loads have been moderate to slightly stout. -AlHave you used it enough to see if it will hold up as well as Lapua?
