Starline and Peterson 6br brass coming

I just called Starline, they said check the website for an update in 8-10 weeks. It will be available this year. Good news. I have their 223 and Creedmoor brass, it does what I need.

Looks like Ill order a box of Lapua now and grab some USA brass when I can.

It will be hard to buy the Peterson over Lapua for the same price. More brass options are good though, should help with shortages. When Lapua is sold out I do get tired of shopping around for it.
I have hopes for starline holding up. Curious how the 6br will shoot in a cheaper line of brass.

all we can hope is that starline doesn't follow their Grendel model and put the yuge flash hole in it. they'll be wondering why it doesn't sell.

i suggested small flash holes to them. Starline is looking at 2nd quarter now. i would bump it out until i had the best possible brass i could make... otherwise it wont sell that great.

I keep hearing all these stories about Lapua brass getting worse and worse.
Mine seems fine, but I don't obsess over my brass, so I'm not a person to notice that weight deviation or flash hole regularity has changed by some small percent over the last 10 batches.

Sorry. That came out sarcastically. I honestly don't know. Shoots great for me though!

I had a good chat with the Starline rep at Brownells last month. They are working on 6BR and they are well aware of the fact that if it isn't perfect it could well hurt their entire brass business. I think Peterson and Starline are working hard to give us a good product at a fair price. Buy American guys.

If anybody talks to starline tell them to put the correct flash hole in there. Having the .080 flash hole in the grendel brass is why they cant sell it

Alpha has a large flash hole in the SRP 260 cases I bought from them. And that rifle hammers as an ackley. I was a little concerned at first. But its since proved itself, every time I take it to a match.

Emailed Starline today requesting info on the "soon to come 6 br brass" Will post if/when I receive an answer.

I was very impressed with my Starline 243 brass. It's not Lapua but its darn close and costs HALF as much on sale.

I bet Starline could see some real sales driven by PRS where losing brass is always a possibilty. I just spoke to a prs shooter at the club and we talked about that very subject.

Yep, lost brass is a given for PRS. I usually buy 400-500 cases for a caliber and plan on losing 50-100 over the lifespan of the brass still leaving enough to shoot matches with the lot. A lot of brass might last me 3 or 4 barrels and a few years.

I've heard good things about Starline but it would take a big price discount for me to consider it over Lapua. Even if it were 20 cents a piece cheaper that's only a savings of $100 over a few years, with that concern in the back of my head that I'm not shooting the best possible components or the risk that primer pockets give up earlier than Lapua.

It would be more compelling if it was formed dasher brass, but as straight 6BR it doesn't really interest me.
