4 days of shooting sounds pretty good right now after the long winter. I would like to point out that Pete Petros will be breaking in a new rifle and should be easy to beat up at this match. I'm looking forward to it, lol. If you need directions or info look up Shootingstl.com

Hopefully Pete will be in the shoot one then clean phase. Then he wouldn't be able to finish his string, being all tied up cleaning that new rifle after every shot!

Re: St. Louis Benchrest Club Midrange Match Schedule May 1-4

Pete,

I am not familiar with the various matches and wondered about the following.

Per your post, the Saturday match includes F-Open and F-T/R:
------------------------------------------------------------
“Saturday, May 3rd: NRA Midrange Individual Midrange Match. 60 rounds for record at 600 yds. Sling, F-Open and F T/R. $30.00 fee. Sign up at the range or pre-register. See attached below for details.”
------------------------------------------------------------

And the description states the following:
------------------------------------------------------------
“COURSES OF FIRE:
Match 1: 2 sighting shots & 20 shots for record, prone slow fire (iron sights).
Match 2: Same as match 1
Match 3: Same as match 1 except any sight allowed for match rifles.
Match 4: Aggregate of matches 1 through3.

FIREARMS: Service Rifle, Match Rifle, F-Class Rifle, or Tactical Rifle
Certificate given for high score in each classification. (i.e. master, f-tr, etc.)
”
-------------------------------------------------------------

All the F-Open and F-T/R rifles I have seen (not that many, though) have had rifles scopes, but no iron sights. If competitors want to use their “F” rifles, as for Match 3, do they need a different rifle for Match 1?

Thanks!

Nando

Nando

The match program is referring to sling shooters in the course of fire (iron sights/any sight). F-Class will be shot as we normally do. No you will shoot the same rifle for all three strings.

Thankd

Pete -
Thanks!

Will there be two targets used; that is, the MR-1 (6" X-ring . . .) for sling/iron sights shooters, and MR-1FC (3" X-ring . . .) for F-Class shooters?

Yes there will be two targets used. The MR-1 for the sling shooters and the MR1-FC for F-Class.

thanks

Hi Alex, we squad the sling shooter together and same with the fclass so each person on the firing point share the same target. These basic questions about whats happening at a match are why John Perkins is going to film this event. You will be grouped with other fclass shooters on a firing point and will be assigned a relay to fire on. You will also be issued score cards and told by the range officer right where you are supposed to be during the match. Bring your spotting scope so you can score for the others on your firing point when they shoot. If you shoot as well as you just shot at the last club match then you will be in good shape!!

Tom, since you are setting up the first 1000yd range in missouri with pits, I think we will be bringing this show to your door next year. Just cancel that bench match you have scheduled and come shoot some fclass with us !!

Re: St. Louis Benchrest Club Midrange Match Schedule May 1-4

I will be at the range this Saturday afternoon to help get a few of the shooters ready for the match. It would be wise to pull the trigger a few times before the first mid range match. We need one more FTR for a team that is one gun light. Send me a PM and I will put you in contact with them.

Got it tuned up today..600 yards:)

Interesting though..this is a new barrel. In the past the hybrids have always shoot best jumping the 40-50 thousands.. Couldn't get it to shoot them jumping, so I set them about 8 thousands in, and viola! Out of four barrels since I've started shooting hybrids, this is first one that likes them into the lands. Just goes to show, every barrel is different..

Darn, we both had the same problem. I jumped tested yesterday on out past .020 off jam and never got anywhere. I went in today and got .610 @ 300yds with .325 vertical (windy). I usually jump the 180 hybrids .070 area. BTW..that's incredible shooting Jim. You will be the one to beat!! If you see me praying for wind, don't be surprised!! LOL
