Springfield 2020 RimFire

nope don't plan on buying one either. According to Josh over at Pursuit of Accuracy the trigger is mushy, no defined break point and about 4 - 5 pounds as delivered from the factory. According to Springfield it is 3.5 from the factory and is adjustable but I seriously doubt a 3 -4 pound trigger could be brought below a pound safely without some modding. At least I have never heard of one. CZ 457's can be brought down to just under a pound but you need to replace a spring that can be had for dollar at Ace Hardware, $10 at Petes Pillars

If you say yours is adjustable to 6 ounces and you rifle will consistently shoot 1 MOA I will not call you a liar but there is not a Youtube review out there that got the results you claim to have gotten with any ammo from CCI to Eley Tenex and Lapua Exact.

Honestly, if I thought the rifle would be capable of consistent ammo .5 groups with any ammo I would buy one of the $900 + with the AAA walnut stock like yours and drop a Timney, Diamond, or Bix and Andy in it in a heartbeat.

You link one Youtube review from an established reviewer that I trust backs up your claims and I will be ordering one before the end of the month. But I know you won't be able to do that because if Josh at Pursuit of Accuracy can't get one to shoot no one can.

In the meantime congratulation's on buying a real live unicorn
I don’t YouTube anything-don’t plan on it for reviews from some 3rd party idiot
You should handle one- before you give bad advice or judge others experience “hear say”
Before you judge - by what some idiot says..
-Trigger is adjustable, your guy might not know what he’s doing..to adjust one or how to
This rifle trigger was set at 3lb from factory…
No it’s not a unicorn, I seen another one at the store.

Good luck in your “reviews” hope you find your way out of this thread-as personal experience goes- you have none-

I handled one at a Sportsmans Warehouse, beautiful walnut stock the $500 one, not one of the $1000 AAAs like yours. I found the action was nice, probably as slick as a CZ I don't dry fire rimfires so no opinion on the trigger. Springfield did a lot of things right on this rifle, but unfortunately not the one that matters the most to me. On not just one or two reviews but on all the ones I have seen is that it shoots pretty decent about 75% of the time, but then starts tossing out flyers. That is a deal killer for me.

It would probably be a decent tree rat or tin can killer but I shoot ARA benchrest and need a rifle that can group 1/2 inch 100% of the time not 60% or 75% of the time. When I evaluate a rifle I shoot five groups of five shots each then average all twentyfive shots. When or if Springfield comes out with a model II I will be checking them out hoping they solve the flyer problem

Here is an ammo test using a CZ Varmint which cost me $600 before taxes. I installed a $10 trigger spring and used $15 of epoxy from a hardware store to bed it in my garage one afternoon. About $90 more than what that Springfield would have cost me. This is what I expect a 625 dollar rifle to shoot like. Maybe I am just spoiled

edit the second photo was shot before the bedding job, the first 125 shots out of the rifle as a matter of fact. All groups were shot at 50 yards

All that money spent on fancy wood but only shoots 1/2" @ 50yards. That's nothing to brag about. How about a little bet, you bring that fancy wood over to Chattanooga and we'll have a little match shooting smallest group size between your fancy wood and my plain Jane 452UL. You win, I give you my rifle. I win, I get to throw yours in the river.

The only rules are a bi-pod on the front and a rear bag. What say you?

C'mon Bill 1/2" @ 50 yds is perfectly acceptable. Especially with anything made by Norma

Case in point:
The guy that owns the rifle had lifelike targets made, his name on the target-this shot at 50yds.

I never said I owned the rifle… y’all just assumed- made ass out of yourselves…just cause it posted on internet it must be true!!! :D

Just my real life experience handling & shooting it.
There ya go Stacy, this is my experience with the Springfield 2020..

I’m glad the quit making that ugly ass thing!!!
Looks like your enjoying yours.

Come over here, I’ll be glad to have a match with ya, you’d be surprised what ya might find…I’ve got 3 shooting benches, 1000yds to go too..

Now find a review on the proof carbon barrel for the 457, let me know how it shoots…- cause I’m interested in one of those..

just cause it posted on internet it must be true!!! :D
which is why I take anything posted on a forum with a grain, no make that a box of salt. I learned bout shills back in my video game days when the CEO of a company posted fake user reviews of his turd of a game. Even pics can lie, you never know if someone fudges the distance or even shot it with the rifle they claim they did

Bearing that in mind. On the Proof barrel here is a user thread from another forum

I am a middle of the pack shot and can get the about same results with a $15 bedding job and a set of wind flags but each to their own

My bad i called it a Waypoint because a previous poster did so. Apologize for any harm done.

Ironically it is called Lapua X-act. You know what they say about people in glass houses...

Yet you don't say where here is. Funny that you don't mention the rifle was a friend's and not yours until after you're challenged on the results you claim the rifle produced. You talk about Jim SC and I being an assuming ass when you omit that fact in the beginning.

You're about as credible as that senile fool in the white house.

Bill

Think that I’m going a different route haven’t seen anything that I like about these rifles yet

Another if it’s posted on the internet it must be true guy.. thanks, my point being proven.! You took it for granted-
Op asked for experience on that rifle- hands on, was my point- not some YT idiot…

Had any experience with this Springfield 2020 rifle Bill ?? You should just kept out of this thread as well.. not criticizing the ones actual experiences with it-case in point has nothing to do with any other rifle.
You can pm me form directions;)

I'd just like to see more positive reviews and not negative. Months ago I was looking at purchasing one.
I decided not to because of all the negative reviews.
I hate to spend the money to find out it's a dud.
I own 3 decently accurate 22lr rifles.
Tikka T1X, Bergara BMR, and even my Savage B22 shoots better than what I've seen in the reviews of the
Springfield rimfire with SK Standard Plus, CCI Standard Velocity, Eley Contact.

Yeah I want one also , only a couple of good reviews
22 plinker I think shot good
And a new review the past couple days , actually he did two , one wasn’t so good and the next he tweaked the action bolts and it got better , not a tack driver but better , bearded guy getting over Covid

here is a picture of what 22 Plinkster called a good group (at that time stamp) and what I would call four out of five acceptable for a $300 dollar rifle, then you get to that flyer in the upper left. If an 1.5-inch group , guesstimated, is what you call a good group then more power to you.

let's face it. Springfield knew how this rifle would shoot and that is why the guarantee is 3 shots within an inch at 50 yards, not 5 shots within a half inch. If three shots within an inch at 50 is what you want then it is a great rifle, if you expect a 1 MOA rifle then you are going to be disappointed

Edit one of these days I am going to send that guy a decent rest and bunny bag
