Solus - Another New Action

With so many new actions on the market, it is going to get very competitive to have and keep market share. Defiance price hikes could not have come at a worse time. Personally, I think the better move would have been to streamline the process and hold the price if at all possible. Gonna be some tough times for action makers in the near future. If a company is not established already, many are going to go under. I personally like Defiance as a company and the guys are great. Really don't care for the new owner, to say the least. Hopefully they survive in a very competitive market. Very poor timing on the price hikes though. Time will tell.

I don't work in the gun industry but same scenario in my line off work, it looks to me that companies that have been able to minimize price hikes, offering extended sales, etc are demolishing products that shot through the roof on prices and haven't budged. Time will tell what the successful strategy will be but in tough times dollars follow the bargains I think.

Bolt lift doesn't look promising ...

The shooter said: "it was a little rough"

I agree! It definitely looks like the guy in the video is struggling with the bolt.

Warning to anyone that watches: Turn your speakers down!

He looked like he was scared to death. Watch before the first shot he fliches and tenses up so bad he almost ran the bipod off the end. Good posture though sitting straight up like that

Faxon released a rem 700 clone as well.

Bolt actions... so hot right now.

Makers see the writing on the wall with semi autos on the ban list.
I would imagine a lot has to do with the whole LR shooting craze but I bet they saw a market when remington went under.
People realized they could use their CNCs for a bolt action. Prefit barrels and chassis have made boltguns into Legos like ARs became.
Now, a decent 80% bolt action that needed a few machining processes done would very cool.

Another view of the potential clunkiness ... it's in the first few seconds.

It reminds me of the old Nissan commercials for the Frontier. They showed a video of it on a dirt road with the bed bouncing all around, independent from the cab, it was chassis flex. I'm not sure this is how want to market it...

If aero is in any way responsible for the noise in the video I will never buy anything with their name on it. You should warn people before you post things of this nature.

I ordered one today to check it out. Price is right. I did notice they didn't look like the smoothest actions in those videos. I don't think it will compare to any BAT's or Defiance actions that I typically use. I'm curious as it might be a step up from a 700 build. Wondering how the measurements will check on it. I'm personally not a fan of 60 degree bolts ether, JMO. Once I get it in hand I'll decide if I want to continue with a build on it or not.

From someone who goes through every action I can say Defiance actions need very little work. Expesially in the ignition. If they made a BR action, they would do well. When everyone says they can buy brand x cheaper... true. But they aint all the same. No reason Defiance should not cost what a Bat or Borden does. They are that good.
