Help with Solus Short Action Build: SOP To Attach Savage Small Shank Barrel With Nut

Brad's barrel and nut work perfectly on my Solus Action. No need for an action wrench if you use a barrel vice. Since I was planning to use it as a single shot, I removed the double ejectors. For some reason the bolt would not go forward enough to to be able to cam over and close without forward pressure pushing the case head against the ejectors to snap the extractor over the case rim. Reminded me of a cheap single shot 22 that you had to push the bolt forward enough so you could close the bolt. I tried mine without the firing pin, and still did it, so it's not the firing pin. Much easier to close the bolt on a cartridge without the extractors, you only need a little force to snap the extractor over the case rim. I don't know if it"s because of the short cam time of the bolt due to the 3 lugs or what. It only needs the bolt to go forward a small amount to work normally. Only issue on mine for an otherwise excellent action.
