So what are you all doing with CCI

I havent been shooting 22lr long, However it didnt take long to figure out that CCI was not going to cut it in the competition world., I think its called la palma, the competitions we shoot at my club. 50 meters then move to 100 yards shoot a few cards then come back to 50.
However I bought a brick of CCI last year when I first started. What are you all doing with your CCI, are you using it for plinking, training or what.?

I've got a couple thousand rounds of Standard Velocity for the grandson to burn up. Unfortunately he's not been able to come to the range with me since his TBI Mother's Day a year ago. He can't take the blast around him yet.

I assume you're talking about CCI SV's???

Yeah, they're not really cut out for competition, though they can do pretty well and I like to use them for practice and I think they're good enough for that. But anytime you change from one brand to another (e.g. SV's to Center X) you need to condition the barrel for them due to the difference in the lube that's on them. So when I change to a different brand, I'll shoot at least 20 of them before I expect best results.

I've got some CCI Green Tag's that are supposed to be their high end for competition. But the results I got from them weren't much better than the SV's; can hardly distinguish the difference.

Handguns and plinking is what I use it for now, I have shot some small groups with it, but it's too inconsistent.

I shoot cheap ammo to practice in severe wind conditions. Having 1/2moa of added dispersion doesn’t affect your practice quality in 4+ moa wind holds.

I also used cheap ammo (Norma TAC-22) to break in a new barrel.

A Ruger 10/22 and a Bunch of cheap ammo along with steel targets is about the most fun you can have with any rifle. Take a few kids with you when you go to shoot.

I shot cci sv through a 10-22 for practice, learning, and conditioning.
The best year long average I had was about an inch at 50 yds. I've since switched the barrel and the trigger. I shot in the .5 average area with entry level European ammunition. I will probably shoot up the last of it next spring for warm up practice.
