Thank you all for your responses. I really enjoy this forum and have learned much and have also ended up a little confused at times. But, end in the end, it's all good at whatever level I get to going forward. Sometimes I think my engineering mind gets me into more trouble than good!

There is no end of the road. You have retired, live life for YOU. Do as much or as little as you like, this need not be a competition, it can and will for many be a way to have fun and enjoy yourself. If you no longer can find a way to have fun , it is work and maybe try something else. But have a smaller group than the one in your wallet when you showed up this morning is not mandatory. I don't think a full blown custom would be a waste of money if you enjoy shooting it. Read the Forum Boss's post from a few days back!

I like to compete...and WIN. I don't mind getting beat by a better shooter, but I hate getting beat due to inferior gear. So I built the best rifle I could afford, worked hard on load development. My rifle shoots better than me, and that's what I want. I'm at .250" at 100, .350" at 300, and .400" at 600. So now my results are all on me. I like it that way.

I have more fun shooting what I shoot than I would shooting something I had to “ sell the farm” to pay for. And If one relay of a match I shoot a score equal to or better than someone shooting all the bells and whistles my day is made. I pride myself by not getting caught up in an equipment race

Its the trip. Don't even think about the destination.
Whether its fly tying, cars, guns, boats, airplanes, etc......
The object is to check out saying "Wow, what a trip!"

If you can shoot .400" groups at 600 you should be shooting bench and forget about F Class.
