NOW WHAT?

It's called the flu. Happens every year.

I wouldn't say that it is describing the flu at all. I would say it more aligns to the Cova 19 symptoms. Have you seen the images of someones lungs after they have succumbed to this virus. they look like they went through a meat grinder. Additionally, there is no cure or treatment for Cova 19. These seem to align to her description much more than the flu.

As to whether Silvia was referring specifically to the Cova 19, I don't know. Could be a lucky guess. But I wouldn't call it the Flu, which we do have treatments for.

Some people do not realize that the flu is a respiratory virus. As is coronavirus. One could predict in any given year that a pandemic would sweep the world and they would likely be correct in most years. Sars, Mersa, Mers (another Coronavirus), H1N1, H5N6, H7N9, Avian flu, Zika, Hemorrhagic fever, Hantavirus and of course the big Ebola scare. Fewer still realize that we reside on Pandora albeit there are very few large toothy creatures trying to eat us, the majority of those that are can only be seen under a microscope. On the bright side, it's almost beer:30 here on the west coast. :)

Now that the market is slowly tanking I wont have any mad money to spend on gun stuff or should I say fun stuff. By the time this stops I may have enough left over to buy a box of 22 mag to enjoy,LOL Sit tight because I think it will rebound so we can get back to enjoying ourselves at the range instead of following the lousy news. Only kidding my cat wont use printed news anymore. Should I take what I have left and invest in collector firearms or what. MY girl would probably beat me in my sleep if I did,LOL Stay safe wash your hands and face , get some popcorn and watch the show.
Invest in toilet paper. It's a short term thing the market will bounce back and nobody will lose. By the way I've seen guys selling their guns for a case of TP. Excellent time to buy stock or guns, :D!

Might have missed the boat. I was hoping that the market would stabilize at a lower level and beg me to jump in. Damn thing climbs 1900 points today (DOW). NASDAQ and S&P jumped as well. That's why most of us are not rich. We're stupid and don't jump in when we should. I hope those managing my 401k were more on the ball than I was.

It's never too late

The stock market this week has been a real roller coaster. My strategy is stay the course, but everyone has to decide how much risk they are willing to take.
Ben

Yeah, staying the course is the correct thing. It's what I've done for many years now. Still with a little cash sitting on the side lines this is the kind of market that could fund another rifle build if you jump in at the appropriate time. We'll will see what kind of opportunities the weeks ahead present.

I’m sure my 401k is getting wrecked but it’s imaginary money anyway.

I am prepared to buy but I haven’t gone in yet, we haven’t even seen how much money companies have lost and the closings are just beginning.

My 401, well it is down almost 30%. Since I am still working, the contributions to my 401 are purchasing stocks at a discount so the number of shares are greater. When the market recovers, which it will, I will be better off.

I am also looking for some stocks to invest in at this time.

Exactly. Even better when your company matches. Buy stocks with other peoples money?? Yes, please.

Here's what you do ^^^. We're having a 14-day Quarantine COVID-19% sale. Buy something from us. It's all made by American workers with benefits, making a living wage and paying taxes. Or... buy an American made high-end barrel, action, stock, reamer, bullets somewhere else. Then, commission a gunsmith to put it all together for you. Sleep well knowing it's the best stuff this world has to offer.

Just wondering - who is paying for all this money that is being printed to "save the market" and soften the virus's impact on everyone. If I remember high school economics, the more they print, the less it's worth - so you can actually have a lot that's not worth what a little was a while ago. I just checked and one site said one dollar in 1974 would buy what $5.56 will buy today. So, all this investing stuff just doesn't register with me, but it does seem to interest a lot of people.

You know, you don’t really need TP. Just be careful.

Yeah, investing is probably not for you, that’s why they invented government ponzi schemes.

jon, keep the faith. In a few months this virus will have run its course. And our economy will rise. Take a long(ish) view. just one man's .02

Short answer, you are. If you are still working that is. I retired 4 months ago but I've been paying for all the free shit since I was 16 years old. That's 46 years worth of ponying up. I like to inspire the young folks by telling them that they are voting for all this free shit so; work harder you lazy bastards. When your man Bernie becomes president I'm going back for a "free" PhD in Philosophy so I can pontificate all day long with authority. I love these kids. They are so giving. However, we are really going to have a toilet paper shortage when they realize who is getting stuck with the bill their voting record hath wrought.

I felt the same as you....lol. Talked to my boss and he bought 5 stocks early yesterday that made him a bundle while I sat on my thumbs thinking about it. I guess it’s no wonder why I’m working for him and not the other way around....lol. Most of the truly successful people that I know all have a much lower aversion to risk than I do.

I lost everything I made over the past 18 months, over the past 2 weeks. Sold most of my portfolio 3 days ago, and now feel pretty stupid.

I don’t invest much, and I don’t rely on these investments... but I worked pretty damn hard for that money!!
