Sightron scopes

Question for the latest buyers, is the parallax knob still difficult to turn? I bought an SIII 8-32 when they first came out and I needed a pipe wrench to turn the knob. Sold it. I do have one of their newer FFP scopes and in that department it's fine. Also own a few Big Skys and some of their entry level scopes and agree they are good bang for the buck.

I just mounted a SIII 8-32. The parallax knob is as easy to turn as the magnification ring. I read about this issue in several threads. Not a problem with the scope I received.

I bought a 10-50 a few months ago and the parallax knob is easy to turn.

I have 4 SIII scopes 3 10x50x60 and 1 8x32x56, all the side adjustments are tight. If you closed your eyes you couldn't tell which one you were using, they all feel the same, I like it that way myself says consistent quality of assembly between scopes:cool:

I have an 8-32 and all adjustments work fine. Parallax is very easy to tune. Glass is very good but against my Kahles K624i there is a noticeable advantage to the Kahles. Colour appears more natural and it resolves through mirage better, it's 3 times the price mind you...

From the perspective of an F class shooter, the advantage with the Sightrons is the ease they pick up that mirage. Can still aim precisely but all of the scopes will respond to mirage more then some Euro glass (S&B being one of my Faves for seeing "through" mirage).

This has certainly saved me points when things are just starting to move like in the morning.

Just a different way to "tuning" the lenses.

When there is no mirage, the Sightron SIII and SVSS have superb resolution and clarity at LR.

I bought a used 10 x 50 off a fellow on this sight, sent on 3/3. Scope got lost in the mail finally received it on 3/10. Box was crunched scope wouldn't bore sight, closest I could get was about 3 feet low and 6 feet right at 150 yards using a laser bore sight. Called Sightron to send it to them to get it fixed, Talked to an Allen at CS, got a lot of grief at first then things settled down and he said "send it in put my name on it I'll call when it gets here". Well I'm still waiting for that phone call. I called them on 3/28. Talked to Allen again, " there's nothing wrong with your scope but it's in the oven right now, should be sent out tomorrow". Called again 4/4 ask for Allen again. Me " Where's my scope?" Allen "Well we had to recenter the crosshairs, adjust the scale and square the retical. We want to take it to the range to make sure it bore sights but we have high winds today and rain tomorrow, should be able to get to the range on Friday but no guarantees. Me "OK when are you going to send it out to me" Allen "Should be one day next week if everything checks out OK". I have 4 Sightron S III's 3 8 x 32 and 1 6 x 24 this will be my last and all will be for sale soon.

Why would you sell the Sightrons that you have that
you are happy with, all over a carrier damaged scope?
At least it hasnt come back to you unrepaired, and
they are trying to get it done for you. Rome wasnt
built in a day. LDS

It's more about the attitude and the lies. If there's nothing wrong why all the work being done? Plus by now I'm sure someone has called and said check out the ass bad mouthing you. So it'll be another couple weeks.

Jerry, I have read your review on the SV. Is there any difference in glass quality between the SIII 10-50 and the SV 10-50? Sightron seems to buck the trend of other F-class scopes such as NF and March by not using ED glass. I find this a little odd given the RRP of the SV being north of 2 grand.

The glass in the SVSS is superb and every bit as clear as many top tier high mag scope. As you saw in my review, better then some in different conditions.

Yes, the SVSS is better at LR vs the SIII of equal mag.. very obvious once you go past 40X. I have converted my FTR rifles to make weight with the SVSS.

Does S&B say they use ED glass?

I have look through scopes and binos with so called ED glass and been very dissappointed. I do not think ED glass really means much except to add another marketing jam label to the product.

I judge the optic by what I can see and resolve.... what they call it, doesn't really matter to me.

I will take Sightron glass over some ED products for sure... the best way is to simply do a side by side comparison and decide what works best for your eyes and application.
