sightron scopes

My first BR scope was a Sightron 36x. - piece of sh++t. Then it was Leupolds, NF and a March. Last year, I decided I wanted another NF with the CH1 reticule. Called and learned they no longer supply or retrofit that reticule.
The Sightron III does have a fine plain ol crosswire, I think it subtends 1/16th inch. IMO, it is easier to old off with a fine xwire than a 1/8th dot, so I bought it. I like the scope, it is nice and clear, holds POI OK. The focus knob takes much effort to turn - that s my only complaint. Good scope for the money, but it ain't no NF nor March.

You want the SII BIG SKY, not the plain SII; two different animals. Big Sky glass is very good, equal IMO to Leupold VXIII (not VX3); SII more like VXI. All Sightrons seem to track very well. I recently thought I had a dud, but it looks now like it was loose mounting.
They do seem to be a bit overpriced (what scopes aren't?).

My 3rd scope was a Sightron 36X. It worked well for me. Sightrons show up on more than one equipment list for high-level competitions. Everybody (smart) says buy once and it is so true. If I could do it all again...

I have a SIII. 8X32 REALLY LIKE IT EXCEPT FOR THE HARD to turn focus knob. Very concise sight adjustments, clear glass, but I know there are better on but for more money. If I would have been as familiar with quick tach mounts as I am now, maybe my choice would likely have been NF, certainly second thought after the fact. I do really like my 3 Vortex PST 6X24 would definitely buy those again. Decent glass good focus, nice reticle and concise tracking.

I have a Big Sky 3-12 with the HHR reticle. Easily compares to my VX3 4.5-14 Leupolds- clarity, eye relief, brightness.. Very happy with it.

For my first bench rest gun, a home-made special with Savage PTA and pre-fit barrel, I was squeezed for money for a scope.
I found a used silver Sightron SII in 6x24 for the right price. This scope worked well for me for a couple years till my wife gave me a Night-Force for Christmas.
Couple years later I built another gun in 284 WIN and put the old Sightron on it. It surprised me very much in how good it worked!
Come Christmas time again and I got a Sightron SIII 10x50 ! So, the SII Was carefully packed away and I have no intention of getting rid of it! Incidentally, mine is a non-Big Sky model.

I've got the slll 10x50. Love it! Clear as a bell, tracks true 1/8 MOA clicks. Going to buy another for a second F class rifle.

I also use one on my F-TR rifle and love it.

I have two , 8-32 Sightrons on f open guns. I replaced a NF with one. So far , I wouldn't buy anything else. No need to spend the extra money.

To the ones with the 8x32 SIII and 10x50 SIII is it just me or do the 8x32 look more clear than the 10x50.....I want to buy a used 10x50 off the site here but not sure how to tell an older production year from newer without serial number or do yall think it really matters. I thougth about sending my old 10x50x60's back to see if they may have light dust or something in them or could be my improperly cleaning the glass over the years

Liked them so much, I became a dealer in Canada.

A scope that Sightron doesn't list on their site that most F class shooters will enjoy is product code S25138 MOA-2.

SIII10-50X60 LRMOA with 1/8 min clicks....

Why Sightron doesn't list this scope is beyond me... we started Sightron making these as a custom reticle swap. They did enough to justify a product code... but they don't seem to want to tell anyone.

I really like the LRMOA reticle but all Sightron scopes house this reticle in a 1/4 min click tube. The custom reticle swap puts the LRMOA reticle in the same scope body as the FCH and target dot to give 1/8 min clicks.

The first scope we had made a few years back just went past 10,000rds of heavy bullet 308 shooting on my FTR rifle. Still tracking and running strong.

So if you like the features, give your dealer or Sightron a shout and ask for 25138 MOA-2... then ask them why it isn't front page in their catalog or website.

Enjoy...

Jerry

PS... I am loving the new SVSS scope too. That side focus set up is unique and awesome ... nothing else like it on the market.
