Un f---ing believable!I used to belong to a club that was also the local police range. Can you see where this is going? It was a small range only about 50 feet wide. Short range pistol at one side and 100 yard rifle on the other side. Two LEOs came to shoot at the pistol side while I was at the 100 yard line. We were the only ones at the range. I asked them if they would like to set their targets and they indicated OK. I left my bench and waited for them to return to the line. So far things are going OK. After about 15 minutes I asked for a cease fire so I could go down and change my target. Sure thing ..go ahead. I'm about half way back to the line and they opened fire! I didn't care who they were I verbally ripped them a new one about shooting when someone was obviously down range. They both stood there and said ... Well, we're over here and you're over there so no harm, no foul. Simply BRILLIANT. A great answer from guys that should know better. I asked them if they would like it if I opened fire while they were down range but they didn't answer.
Most troubling is the lack of common sense.I used to belong to a club that was also the local police range. Can you see where this is going? It was a small range only about 50 feet wide. Had to laugh when I read that. Once in Harbor Freight I saw a warning tag on an electric pole saw. One of the warnings was "Do not attempt stopping saw chain with genitals."This has to be the greatest greatest safety warning paragraph ever written. It is the manual for a Harbor Freight parts washer and many other of their manuals.
12. The warnings, precautions, and instructions discussed in this instruction manual cannot cover all possible conditions and situations that may occur. It must be understood by the operator that common sense and caution are factors which cannot be built into this product, but must be supplied by the operator.
The warning is simply for those who want to test whether they have brass balls.Had to laugh when I read that. Once in Harbor Freight I saw a warning tag on an electric pole saw. One of the warnings was "Do not attempt stopping saw chain with genitals."
My thoughts were, if you're that dense the gene pool doesn't need any of your contributions anyway. So go ahead.
Most don't know how to shoot properly, period!I have never seen so many guys that don't know how to shoot from a bench since last year
4 benches and ever time they set at the worst benchMost don't know how to shoot properly, period!
However, I have learned that in every demographic (including anti-gunners and pro-hunters) there are those that can best be described as Proudus Ignoramus. This is a condition made up of equal parts of "bits of knowledge" and "insecurity" plus a "chit can full of stupid". The result is commonly called "redneck bravado" or "stupid is as stupid does".
You've more patience than I. Either someone like that will listen to advice, or shooting is a subject we never discuss.Last weekend I brought my neighbor out to shoot on public land. He has been trying to sight in his AR for like a year. I been trying to help him since last year by giving him advice when im at the bar. First I told him buy a lower and a seekins parts kit and I will assemble it for a 12pack. Then just get an upper. He bought an assembled lower and an upper instead.
I told him to what cleaning supplies to get, and never use a 3 piece rod and associated cheap kit. He broke off a plastic jag and got it stuck in the bore straight away.
He is on a super tight budget, but won't listen to me or watch the videos I send him so, he pissing away a ton of money. He wanted a budget scope, I recommended Athlon. Instead, he spent 150 bucks on a amazon no name brand 6-24 AO its .25" clicks and mildot reticle with tactical turrets lol. It came with garbage rings. I told him he needs an AR optic mount, not those rings. The front ring is on the handguard. All the screws were basically finger tight. I used a torque screwdriver. He has put so many rounds down range trying to sight in that he could have bought a 500 dollar scope by now. A 100 dollar 3-9 athlon and an AR mount would have worked just fine, and now that 150 dollar scope is suitable for the garbage bin.
He was in the military, and he handles that AR like it's his very first time shooting anything! Not even going to send him a video on how to handle an AR, which is how I learned. He won't watch it.
He couldn't believe when he hit the 4 3\4" plate at 520 yards on the first shot with my 223. Its like, duh thats why you should've took my advice.
Frustrating trying to help a new shooter who won't listen! You can lead em to water....
Well, i gave up on him last year. I felt bad cuz he sees me and my buddy loading the truck every weekend but we never invite him. He lives across the street. You've more patience than I. Either someone like that will listen to advice, or shooting is a subject we never discuss.
People sometimes don't like me much. That's OK. My goal never has been to win popularity contests and I've never suffered fools lightly.
