Sig 300 BLK STAINLESS CASE CUTAWAY

I pick up range brass at my gun club. Lately a member has been shooting a lot of Sig 300 BLK in the composite construction stainless steel case.
I have attached a bunch of photos of its construction. I spent my life in manufacturing and was curious of their assembly method.
The case head is very magnetic. It’s either nickel plated steel or 400 series stainless steel. The rest of the case is very mildly magnetic so am thinking maybe 18-8 or similar stainless steel.
Yes, I have too much time on my hands (retired) .

What mission statement requires cases that may have been built for higher pressures?

They want more. They always want more. And they have no idea what the term, unintended consequences, means.

oh, they do know that term; they just don't care. The department who dreams up all these nutty things are composed of officers who do not stray far from their air-conditioned offices at the Pentagon.

All this is driven from below. A new requirement by a 3 letter agency or some tier 1 guys say " Hey let's turn a BLK Out into a 308 Win. You would but most don't understand the crazy stuff they come up with. " Hey we have a round wheel, lets make it square, we can go faster" I see it all the time.
Most get fixated on the bright shiny thing.

I don't see how they could learn much from a 300 BLK case unless they filled it full of bullseye powder.

I think you might be right. I’m not sure why I think it’s Sig ammo. Maybe I saw a Sig ammo box in the range trash can at the range and assumed it was Sig. Last night I did a quick google search for Sig 300 BLK ammo and nothing with stainless cases resulted.
