worked for the LEO in Wind River!Do I hear a second for the nomination of the 45/70 in a Winchester 1886...
Not identical as to firearm or exact ballistics, but more folks have been "stopped" on this continent with this category of terminal ballistics than all others combined. Check out "one-shot stopping power" data from 1861 to 1865.
Glass can be very tough, I'd believe 7mm to 338 Lapua easily.Seems like I remember reading along time ago that the Secret Service used 7mm Magnum inside arenas and stadiums to go through the glass on the upper decks. That would be 150 yards max maybe

I remember when my brother and I were kids, like 11 and 8 years old.. we would watch those those movies and yell out the identification of the firearms used when we saw something new. I was 8. I was so young, I really didnt know what all the numbers were about, but I sure was trying and beat my brother at blurting out the info.Dirty Harry liked the 458 Win Mag! Let’s use that!![]()
Not too long back, I/We serviced F&G rigs. Always told the officers I would ring out their M1A's any time they needed.Off-topic: I do know that the CA Fish and Game guys (would have been in the late 90's/early 00's , I think) started carrying M1A's in addition to the normal shotgun + AR-15, due to the numerous MJ grows (made for a fairly crowded long gun rack in their trucks.) The warden I knew said some guys complained that they were getting deflected shots when shooting through vegetation (no idea if this was true or not, but the addition of the 308 was fact.)
That's all pretty much the case. If you read the books by John Nores, he talks about the cartel grow sites and the efforts to put a stop to them. He also helped CAF&W select the POF Revolution in 308 (to replace the M1A) as standard issue across the state. Pretty interesting books.Off-topic: I do know that the CA Fish and Game guys (would have been in the late 90's/early 00's , I think) started carrying M1A's in addition to the normal shotgun + AR-15, due to the numerous MJ grows (made for a fairly crowded long gun rack in their trucks.) Off topic but I'm pretty sure I own one of these. Bought it from J&G surplus around 2013. The opinion on M14 forum was that some hot sold when they switched platforms. I have no proof but the timeliness do work out. It's a LE marked ban Era Bush model.Off-topic: I do know that the CA Fish and Game guys (would have been in the late 90's/early 00's , I think) started carrying M1A's in addition to the normal shotgun + AR-15, due to the numerous MJ grows (made for a fairly crowded long gun rack in their trucks.)
