It did work.Never done it though I would say this should work. Not sure how you would do this, or why the thickness is a factor. The scotch bright will compact & or wear considerably in a rather quick fashion.
i use red or reddish brown ones -fine i think- with a case spinner in a battery drill— works great in a few seconds each —- shiny brass no scratchesAnyone used them ?
I'm interested in Using them to clean the outside of case necks.
What I can't seem Find out is the relative thickness and flexibility of them if They will work for my intended application.
I even called the company and they dont know How thick their own product is.
Any helps appreciated.
Specialty wood working/finishing supply places usually sell high grade steel wool like AlNyhus is describingI have some of the 3M white ones. They work ok but not as well as 0000 steel wool. I stumbled on a case of USA made 0000 steel wool that doesn't crumble and powder away like the currently available stuff....
Used to sell nevrdull to a ladies club for doing their brass collections, about a case a month for probably 10 yrs or more. That was back in the 80's, in the blue cans.Buy a can of Eagle One Nevr-Dull wadding. It will last a lifetime. No abrasives. If I'm shooting from a bench, I keep a pinch of it next to me to clean the necks as I go. Easy-peasy.

A lil alcohol on a microfiber for me, and I have a roll each of red and grey Mirlon by Mirka out in the shop.I've tried the red and the gray and no matter what they say about grit they make deep scratches. If I dump a bunch of range brass in the tumbler and afterward some of the worst pieces still look dirty then yes. But cleaning a semi clean piece of brass, way too aggressive.
Almost effortless for cleaning case necks before during and after turning or just to remove the black soot.. stay with the 3M branded materials The burgundy is like a 220 the white is like a 4 to 600.Anyone used them ?

Same here, does an outstanding job. No need to go into the weeds on this one, just go to Home Depot or your favorite hardware store.Just use OOOO steel wool myself.
