scope choice

In the market for a new ftr scope, what are people preffering?god knows i've had a lot of them , i look through the nxs 8 x32 ch3 recticle , that was sweet, but not made anymore, looked at the compitition from nightforce, nxs =.125 dot @ 22x , comp, ddr = .125 dot @ 55x , any help i would appreciate, wife bought me a scope for my birthday but it was more a hunting scope, this will have to be my last scope buy or i will have a divorce, any help to save marriage would be appreciated.

The 42x NF br model is the most for the money in fclass. The DD reticle is a favorite also. More people use it than not in fclass or LR bench. I think they run about $1400 new.

I have three nightforces. I would have to say the new Competition is by far my favorite. The new glass is outstanding. Which ever nightforce model you decide on will work great in F-tr.

It's difficult to improve on what lmmike said; he was right on.

I run an NXS 12-42X56 with the NP-2DD reticle and the .125 MOA clicks but the BR model would have done just as well and for substantially less money; I just wanted an NXS.

tried that , is that the search block on this site or on google? thanks XTR

This site, and if you go over to Snipers Hide and search the F-TR forum you'll find a bunch more.

I don't mean to be a jerk, this has been flogged to death in the last yr or so. There are hundreds of posts about scopes and reticle choices. There is no way anyone is going to replay all that for you.

Another search would be "Scope choice" or "Reticle choice" There is also a way to create a custom Google search for one URL which may work better than the site engines.

justy wondering has anyone else anything to add?

I just wrote this in another thread...

Get a Nightforce 12-42 with an NP-2DD reticle, or if you have another $1000 laying around get a new NF Competition, cant afford one of those, get a Sightron 10-50 with FCH, got more money than Bill Gates, get a March.

What ever you get get 1/8 (.125) MOA clicks on the turrets, you want that to dial your vertical on an F class target.

Nightforce has just unleashed their new competition scope which I would highly recommend; but since I am on a budget I use a BSA 12x mil

Looks like every recommendation here is for a reticle with a dot. Don't think for a minute that is all that is being used. Many, many competition shooters prefer "not" to use a reticle with a dot, it is all a matter of personal preference. I much prefer the NP-2R reticle to any with a dot, but that is something you will need to decide for yourself. Look at as many reticles as you can, then you can make an informed choice all on your own.

many thanks for all the replies , decision made i am going to get a March scope, looked through one earlier today with a MRT 2 recticle and thought it was superior glass to the nightforce, once again thanks for the replies.

So, I guess you didn't need as much help in saving your marriage as you led us to believe. Yes, March has superior glass to Nightforce. 250% better glass? Not so sure.

well i think my marriage is going to have its ups and downs , as all of us men, but i think i will suffer this for a while, picture no sound , no dinners etc but at least i will have my scope, thanks again to all replied.
