saving pvt ryan rifle ?

What are you writing about? I am not saying that Carlos does not deserve a movie or TV series but I am saying that it is highly unlikely. (BTW, I have his book signed by him during a gunshow)
Your statement as written concerning liberals.

I Corps Chu Lai. Spent most of my time in the thrill filled and wonderful provinces of Quang Ngai, and Tam Ky...and one brief, thankfully, foray into Quang Nam.

That was just their Carlos Hathcock scene. Carlos shooting the VC sniper through the eye is probably one of the most prolific sniper stories of all time. Some producer or writer had probably read that story somewhere and knew or remembered just enough that the brand of scope he used was a Unertyl so that's what they had to have for that scene. Still a great movie. Now if only they would make a movie about the life of Carlos and what he was able to accomplish in wartime as well as what he did for the shooting sports. If done properly it could be such a great movie. His story has everything, Love, loss, sacrifice, and patriotism not to mention the incredible feats he was able to accomplish on the battlefield.
write it up and submit it to Clint Eastwood..

Vietnam 66 & 67 USMC Welcome home brother. Semper Fi.

For me it was RVN 1966 from DaNang to ChuLai, to TuyHoa, to CamRahn Bay, to AnThoi, to PanRang, then back to Subic or Okinawa for more grunts and armor, then back and do it all over again. Thrill Ville for sure.

Welcome home to you too brother. Semper Fortis

The issue here is that his story isn’t as compelling enough to get a lot of drama. There are 6 noteworthy elements; winning the Wimbledon Cup, wiping out that NVA/VC company, the shooting of that VC woman cadre commander, the long shot in the NVA headquarters, the sniper duel with the NVA sniper, and the rescuing those guys from the burning APC. All remarkable and brave accomplishments but not easy to write a compelling drama. There wasn’t an additional subliminal conflict, at least none that was apparent. PTSD? Most likely but that wasn’t apparent or documented... That’s why it hasn’t been told.

Plenty of Drama. A worried wife and child at home vs his need to serve his country and do his duty for his fellow Mairines, training of other Marines at Quantico, The Bounty on his head, the loss of his fellow Marines being picked off by an enemy sniper and his feelings of guilt for bringing that on his platoon. Hollywood could dream up some sort of drama that's what they are good at.

Saving Private Ryan, a great WW2 movie overall, right up to the point that super hypocritical gun hating Matt Damon shows up. I know many Hollywood elites are gun haters, but this guy makes me ill, very outspoken about how none of us have sense enough to privately own guns, and would like to see a gun confiscation, but has used guns extensively in his movies and has tons of on screen kills.
