SavageShooters Forum Shutting Down

I joined a few months ago, sorry to see them go.

More forums gone then we can remember. Not too long ago, Small Caliber Club, Specialty Pistol. You turn around and they're GONE!!
Me and Savage shooters go back to somewhere around 1975?
Seen LOTS of folks come and go and be missed.

I never visited that site until today. I just wanted to see it. It looks like it is/was a wealth of info for Savage guys... Sad to see something that took so long to build come to an end so abruptly!!

I have no idea what knowledge it takes to run a forum, but I do know the biggest thing needed to run a forum is MONEY. MONEY buys software and talent. Those are the 2 things that give us the best chance at this forum staying alive.

If you guys are going to miss the Savage forum maybe you should think of contributing some money here so this forum isn't next.

That brings an interesting ( at least to me ) question to mind. Not saying you were either, by any means ( how would I know ? ), but what other than being a violator of forum rules and/or an obnoxious Richard would get one thrown off of a site?

Speaking of Specialty Pistols earlier, there were some guys on there that would go over to Greybeard to see how fast they could get banned

Just depends on the site, some mods are quick on the trigger, some allow chaos

Been a member on Savageshooters since 2006, and a lurker long before that. Even a moderator at one time in its hayday. Learned a ton over there and met and shot with a lot of people because of that site. Really hate to see it go. Good thing is that some of the past and current regular contributors from there are also members here.

It is THE place to go for all things Savage. That’s a shame. Posters on there were really helpful when you needed it.

NorCalMikie, we were both there many decades ago. Of course we were just young pups back then. I really enjoyed when the factory team members would chime in when a member had problems and they would help them out.

As far as that site being absorbed on here, that would be great as well. However our forum boss is already overworked just keeping this site running as it is.

Now perhaps if someone would clone him another him, he might do it. But then again he might just start running away screaming, NO! ... NO!.

Out in the world, there are way more "Savage shooters" or "Remington shooters" than the all custom everything competitors... Despite the Internet impression to the opposite.

Maybe the forum boss could add a "Savage Shooters" forum here to make up for the loss. Pull those guys over here. Wouldn't offend me any!! I love my Savage customers. Some of the small groups sent to me were from guys shooting Savages.

I would. Losing that site is a big deal.

That being said, the forum is awesome now.

But I think there could be a bunch of guys come over.

I've always thought one of the reasons this forum is still very active is that there isn't a ton of different sub-forums. Some places there's 50 sub forums with 3 guys each. The traffic gets spread out so much it seems dead

Well... To be fair, one sub-forum more to absorb an entire forum that went belly up is not 50...
