Savage LRPV Parts

There are some folks that believe if they haven't seen it or owned it -- it doesn't exist. Savage in the last 20 years has made endless varieties of their models. If it could be thought of, it probably was made if they felt it would sell. For awhile, they made up rifles to order if they could make it out of factory parts and they had the reamer.

Sorry I didn't fully explain what I was doing. I started with a 308 VLP/Wood stock. When I added my Nightforce scope I was too heavy for the Cast Bullet 12 lb production class limit. This stock popped up on eBay and is about 7 oz lighter, so I went with it and now I'm 11 lb 14 oz with my Night Force. My cast bullets will not chamber without help because they are a flat nose bullet. I immediately assumed there must be another piece/ sled or something Factory that I was missing until you guys mentioned that they didn't come with anything like that. After you guys enlightened me to that fact I threw a jacketed/pointed bullet in it and it centered and chambered like a champ. It appears to only need about a quarter of an inch of lift under the nose of the bullet and I'm guessing it will work great. I'm still re reading and enjoying all of your responses. Thank you all!

i dont know if a single shot follwer will work or if they will let you use it but its about 1/4 in thick . Woud have to be glued to the bedding of the stock

You could try this but you might have to cut out a slot in the stock and glue it. As others have said the single shot actions the feed tray is milled into the action
This is the best option to use a repeater action in a 4.4” bolt spacing single shot stock.

With these all you have to do is to round the bottom side edges to match the same contour as the action and it will fit without any modification to the stock. It doesn’t need much and takes about 10 minutes to do.

Fred sled! He doesn't make the metal ones anymore but the polymer version works great and is slick as can be. Installed Fred's polymer sled in my cast shooting buddy's rifle since his peripheral neuropathy is so bad he cannot manipulate a cartridge in the center feed mag lips anymore.

Imdamnedifido - are you shooting CBA matches? If yes, there is no restriction for using a sled in production class, benchrest restrictions for production class as stated in para 5.2, no mention of magazines...

"The barrel may be shortened only from the muzzle end to facilitate re-crowning. The barrel's exterior may
not be altered from factory specifications. The barrel must be chambered for its original cartridge and the chamber, including the neck, must conform to SAAMI specifications for the cartridge used. Non-SAAMI specification throating is allowed ahead of the chamber neck. Factory stock, action, trigger, and barrel, appropriate to the model, must be used. Factory stock contour may not be altered. Factory parts may be exchanged; however, a rifle reconfigured must duplicate a factory produced model. Except for the stock, action, trigger, and barrel, substitution of custom parts is allowed. Alterations not expressly prohibited by these rules are allowed. Within the confines of these rules, Match Directors have full authority for determining eligibility of rifles used in Production Class with the sole exception of a rifle used to set a new national record, when the Board of Directors may overrule the decision of a Match Director."

If in doubt, ask your match director. ;)
