Savage Barrel Nut & Action Wrench

Haven't seen it advertised in a while but someone a while ago was offering a Savage Nut Wrench that was twice as thick as the Wheeler type.

Bought an action wrench and a barrel nut wrench 20 years ago. Still use them and works every time. No matter how tight the factory Gorilla tightened them. Best money I ever spent. Simple and effective.
If you get an action wrench make sure to put a wrap of painters tape around the action where it mounts to protect the finish.

No. Bad choice. Plumbing job maybe. If I didn’t have the right size. ( unlikely)
Not only is it a guarantee poor fit, most folks pull with it on backwards.
But then again, besides one other member, I have wrenches most people have never even seen.
I’d like to see pics of your wrenches if you can. I like ol timey and weird hand tools.

How is that used? I'm imagining the wide, flat end is held in a bench vise and the action is slide over the end with a flange. But, what keeps the action from turning when tightening the barrel? And, what is the hex looking nut at the end used for?

Thanks!
Other way around
Flat end engages the lugs and flanged hex is for wrench or socket

Grab barrel in Vice and use internal wrench to tighten to or remove action from barrel.

Here’s an internal ARC wrench in my Nucleus.1756907140960.jpeg
