Savage Barrel Nut & Action Wrench

get a receiver tool much easier and a double ended wrench or get the six sided square nuts and use a wrench or Crecent wrench I have the the tools from Northland shooters supply but I went to the hex nut and the arbor type wrench that goes into the receiver, faster and less setup, if this makes any sense I'm kinda off out there

Yes, confused. I will be doing my own work, but I don't plan on swapping too many barrels, so I'm not wanting to spend a lot of money.

Contact James at Northland Shooters Supply and order their action wrench designed for Savage actions. They provide instructions with the wrench and are available by phone to answer questions.

They also sell a wrench for removal of the barrel nut which can be used with a torque wrench to install the new barrel and barrel nut. Tap the wrench gently with a rubber mallet to loosen the old barrel nut. This method seems to loosen the nut without undue stress on the action.

Midway or Brownells used to have em

Don’t forget an action wrench/vise of some sort

Older CM actions will tightened by the Savage Gorilla on shift that day

Kroil or your favorite penetrating oil and heat gun will help
