I snip two corners off a square patch so there isn't any debate. Yup, 1/2 round and 1/2 square.

Those sizes sound big to me for the type of jag I use.

Chances are he uses a jag that is one caliber under sized like I do. I use a .22 jag for 6mm, and 6.5mm jag for .284 win.

I think they’re called “Bloomer brand”. Good consistency, and no thread separation of threads on the edges. Not gettin off the can to check, though.

Square but only because I buy rolls of "patches" and then cut my own as I clean, if and when I buy them pre cut its the triangle once like Bill showed on the first page

Square but they are cut from a roll of flannel. Been doing it for 46 years and still have the Brazillion scissors bought solely for the job, at that time.

Shape doesn't matter. The diameter of jag and thickness of the patch seems to determine what size patch is needed. You can normally use a larger patch if you are using a slot instead of a jag. I like the thicker twill patches, the slightly thicker material seems to get into the corners of the rifling a little better.

Not real sure. I normally get good contact with the small and large sizes.

I used the 1.91" in a 6mm and it was like nothing on the end of the rod, I'll check again on size as they are still in my box.

I use 21st Century nylon jags. I just pick a next smaller jag if the patch is a bit tight.

Many years ago when funds were, shall we say "tight' I used to make my own patches. All it took was a small piece of heavy copper pipe. I would take a file to the outside and inside of the pipe end and sharpen it up. Place, the cloth on a small length of a 2x4 and give it a whack. Took time but, time was all I owned!!

My wife had a fabric cutter that’s a wheel. Think of it like a pizza cutter. I thought about making some as well since I also noticed the pro shot ones I have look thin while some others actually look thicker

Kudos to you guys for making your own cleaning patches. I use pro-shot as I have just too many other priorities in life

I use my old T shirts as a rod wipe and to remove sizing die wax from cases. Really good for that.

That's what I use, and her cutting mat, when I make my own. She more or less quit sewing so there's no griping about me using them.

I've never bought patches in 55yrs cleaning, always used old tee shirts, cut them up, no measurements, just cut to approximate size and if I need to trim em I do it as I'm cleaning.
