Round or Square Cleaning Patches?

It really doesn't matter. Just get a size thats a little too big, and poke it with a jag a little off center to get a good fit.

I'm using slotted tips.hopefully doing no barrel damage and sure see no signs of it after years of doing it.i like being able to get patch good and sopping wet.ive got jags but keep going back to my brass and plastic slotted tips.yall school me if I'm doing something wrong but it's been working well and don't struggle with patch size but I do go through a lot of solvents

I use these.

About 18 years ago, Jerry Stiller came across these. They came in boxes of 20,000.

They were pimple pads that got rejected by the manufactures for what ever reason. They are woven cotton.

They make great cleaning patches. I bought 4 cases for what amounted to pennies on the dollar. I have been using them ever since.

I am down to two trash bags full. At my age, I doubt will never have to by another cleaning CC3C63A0-FCFA-495C-8C9D-FBC1E84BB202.jpeg2696DD0A-777B-4D2C-90CE-705EA5AEEC2A.jpegpatch.

I operate on the theory that squeezing the solvent out of the patch as it enters the bore at the chamber end is not a good idea. For that reason I tend to opt for less than tight patch fit. Most of my cleaning has been 6mm and for that I use a .22 caliber piercing style jag, probably Sinclair, with a 1 3/8" square ordinary cotton flannel patch. This gives me the fit that I want for work with solvent. Admittedly it requires a couple more patches when drying the bore.
