Rock Chucker Spent Primer Solution

Who has the best solution for managing the spent primers from a Rock Chucker? Love the press, but primers going everywhere is pretty aggravating.

I feel your pain. My (much older version) does catch the primers fairly well. But, I didn’t like the dust and debris all over where the press shaft is… so, I de-prime off press… in my garage… keeping the nasty stuff out of my basement… mostly.

While I despise FleaBay, I do visit a couple times a year. Can commonly find this type stuff there. Though supporting a member would be preferred.

I purchased this one from a guy on here some years ago that works pretty well. As u can see the catch notch on this is more shallow than the one pic'ed above and there is a screw on the back side that can be adjusted to allow the catcher to lean forward towards the ram.

I have been looking at the one from primercatcher.com. Since mine is an older Rock chucker 2, most of the ones I find on Fleabay do not work.. but he makes one.

They really are. I have one. And I'm terrible with it. And have too many other interests competing for my time to be willing to put the time in to learn it.

Not sure. I printed this set up myself with free files on thingaverse. Printer was $350 on amazon and I have had that thing running for almost two years with minimal problems. Files are available online for all kinds of things.

Print all kinds of things. Printed a brass head stamp sorting machine with my brother. If you can use a 3d cad program you could make anything. If you can preform basic computer skills then you can operate a 3d printer. It is really easy.

Something else you may want to consider. A piece of cardboard folded in half with masking tape around it. It pushes the primer catcher lightly against the back of the ram so it catches all the primers and stuff.

I added the real thick hook and loop (the hard kind… 2 pieces looped together, one side stuck to primer catcher, other side left sticky cover on) on the back side of mine to space it out from the frame. I lose one occasionally but it improved the catch by 95% I’d say. I’ll send a pic later.

Seems like my word choices here are terrible trying to describe this…. Forgive my ignorance.
