Rimfire F-Class ?

from NRA Rulebook, Section 7.4.1…

Distance: 50 Meters/Yards
Target A-50/A-51
No. of Shots; Per Bull 5 - Per Match 20

100 Yards
Target A-33
No. of Shots; Per Bull 10 - Per Match 20

Seems like 5 shots on the A-50/A-51 will be hard to score as the X ring is ~1/2 the diameter of a single 22RF hole.

Is there something like an EagleEye that's used to score ?

Thanks

Not hard at all. Use overlays or overlays and the Eagle Eye. Just has to touch ring to score higher value. At 100, must be completely inside the 10 ring to score an X.

Is 22 fclass shot as F-open or FTR?

Either it's F-Class, here is a link to the Rules.

http://compete.nra.org/documents/pdf/compete/RuleBooks/SBR/sbr-book.pdf

This is the F-Class part, but read the rest of the Rules because just like High power all apply.

Thanks guys. Have an EagleEye… as to the overlay… I suspect it carries several "engraved" rings to align it w/ the printed rings on the paper target so one can locate the Xring in the hopefully tight cluster.

Source for overlay… Creedmoor, Champion's Choice, etc. ?

TIA

dblinden, where did you find the definition of a X-ring score for the 100 yard target? I can't find it.

We do not use X-'s in the 100 yard scoring right now.

Dennis, is this a new rule concerning the X ring? The rule book only shows a 10 ring as the smallest ring? Thanks

We ran a postal conventional prone, metric prone and F-Class smallbore league out of Atterbury. We had 3 shooters including myself shooting F-Class. It was fun I will say, March is the last month we are doing it.

As far as scoring the X's on the A33 target there is no X ring so I just assumed and scored all season long as a 10 with no X's. I was the only person shooting metric prone so wasn't an issue, same with F-Class hasn't been an issue but would like to know.

Here in Arizona we have been running F class smallbore for several years and will continue to do so. I would urge all you guy and gals that run smallbore matches to get the word out as the NRA is basically waiting to see what the participation levels will be. Also regarding scoring the A-33 the rulebook says this

Outdoor Metric Prone (A-33 targets) - Any shot hole within the ten ring which, with the aid of a .22 caliber plug-type scoring gauge or overlay, the flange of which does not touch the outside edge of the ten ring.

The rulebook also says you can call those inner 10's on those targets that do not have an X ring Center shots for tiebreaking purposes.

Thanks for pointing that out! We've always scored an X on A-33 --- or inner 10s, or center shots --- as anything not touching the inner edge of the 10 ring. I'm not sure it has ever made a difference in the outcome, but good to know the right way to do it.

At my local club we have been shooting a mini-palma match for several years. However many of us are shooting F-class style. Personally, while I like the NRA getting in to the rimfire F-class, I would like to see a Mini F-class target like the 6 bull mini palma target.

Smallbore FC matches have been shot at the Port Malabar, Fl range monthly for a couple years. Two classes, FO and F/tr, 100 yards, A-33 target. No Xs on this target, and we don't score Xs. I shot sling in the F/tr class most the time, but now shooting bi-pod. It is fun, getting a good turnout lately.

I have not been on the forum in several weeks. Re: scoring, R. Curtis cites -----

That's how it is done and is how we do it. I suppose other clubs sometimes make up their own rules.

BTW - All smallbore prone matches at River Bend Gun Club will include F-class this year. RBGC.org for schedule. This includes the prestigious Black Hawk Open in June. Ditto for 200 yard smallbore matches.

Rick - I am going to Phoenix in a few weeks. Maybe I will see you at Ben Avery. Been awhile.
